Kalons-- a species with soft manes and even softer hearts.

Monitored in forests across the globe for years, these animals
have recently been declared naturally tame as well as sapient.
Scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
Kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.

Their shining tails are used for identification and showing off,
which is helpful when spotting another Kalon from afar. This
association with other Kalons is why they are head-over-heels
for any shiny or colorful item that they come across!

Despite it being the middle of summer, here's a little winter deer kal! This is actually a really old design that I made during my time as a GA but never finished. I redid the edits about a month ago and finally got to posting it.

To win this kalon, tell me through either writing or art what they would do if they were trapped inside because of a snowstorm. There's a limit of 600 words for writing!
One extra of your choice is allowed, if writing try to keep it under 200 words, though I won't be checking. Prettying up is allowed as well

Dangit, I'm in a freaking snowstorm. she would think. How do I get out of this dang thing. Mist would sit in the snow, waiting for the blizzard to clear. Waiting won't work. she'd tell herself. Let's try taking shelter. hiding in the trees, Mist waited. How long have I been waiting? she would think.
I hope soon, my mane feels stiff. I can't get it ruined. Mist would wait and wait, and try to entertain herself with a piece of rock, throwing it as hard as she could and then catching it. This is just stupid.
Mist would find a couple of shivering rabbits hiding in the trees. Is the blizzard trying to torture them or me?
Finally, the blizzard was over, and Mist would get up to bask in the small rays of sunshine. I am never going outside during winter ever again.

lily was sound asleep when the scraping of a branch on her window woke her up. " ugh... " she groaned, sitting up in her bed and putting her face in her paws. she opened her eyes fully after a minute and saw tons of snow falling from outside of her window.

" oh goodie! " lily said to herself excitedly as she ran to the window, a large grin quickly appearing on her face. she had just woken up and a snowstorm was already beginning! lily absolutely loved snowstorms for some reason, she didn't care that they were dangerous or that they trapped her in her house. she just thought everything about them was so cool and kind of scary at the same time.

lily left her spot from where she was leaning on the window sill and went to the kitchen to make her favorite hot winter drink- hot cocoa. she made her drink and topped it off with whipped cream and way too many marshmallows than needed before heading back into the living room to sit and watch the snow fall. she sat in the living room for a couple of minutes, drinking her hot cocoa and burning her tongue each time before she got bored. " hmm... " she hummed, setting her cup down and looking around the room. what to do next?

of course! she thought, looking at her easel at the corner of the room. it was the perfect time to paint! lily ran to her easel, positioning it to where she could see straight out of the window. she just had to draw the snowstorm outside. she pulled out a white tube of paint and one of her paintbrushes and began to paint. the snowstorm didn't stop for hours and neither did she, she was too focused on completing her painting. in the process, she used some purples and blues, but mostly stuck to her white paint to make her painting more realistic.

after a few hours, lily stepped back from the canvas and looked at her painting. it was definitely the best one she had ever done.

lily's favorite thing to do when she's trapped in a snowstorm has always been to paint! even when she's not trapped inside of her house, she prefers to stay in it and paint. but when a snowstorm hits, they're so beautiful that they inspire her to do her best work. in fact, during one snowstorm she painted a painting that ended up making her the famous artist that she is today.
