The ranchers and a group of vets rushed over as the truck rushed in the driveway. They rushed around to the back of the truck and tried to help. Carefully a man holding a badly injured foal got out and rushed into the veterinarian clinic along with the group of vets. Hours went by and everyone was anxious wondering what had happened to the foal and if it was going to be ok. Finally one of the vets came out with sweat dripping down his face and the man who found the foal.
The vet informed us that the foal was in pretty bad shape. It had cuts and bruises all over it's body and was covered in mud. It also was very dehydrated and weak from malnourished. For a while they didn't think that the foal was going to live but it pulled through and was now resting in one of the quarantine stalls. They had bandaged most of the wounds and tried to give it some water but they wanted the foal to rest before they tried to clean all of the mud off.
I walked with the man over to see the foal. It was just laying in the stall weakly whining, most likely for it's mother. It couldn't be older than 4 months. The man explained that he found it while hunting with his buddies. He said that he found the foal lying in the mud unable to move. He said that its herd was nowhere to be found and that he had found wolf tracks in the area. Knowing that it couldn't survive on its own with those wolves in the area he decided that he should bring it in even though that took away any chance of finding the foals mother.
"It's one lucky foal." he said before joining again with his hunting party. I knelled down with a moist rags to try to clean off some of the mud and wondered who would care for this orphaned foal.

Sorry if the art is big (and bad)!
Care Plan: Considering that the animal hospital has already stitched and cleaned the wounds, the first step to bringing this foal back to health is giving him good nutrition. Luckily he is old enough that he can consume hard food like pellets and grass. However, due to his current health I will bottle feed him small amounts of milk throughout the day for a week or so until he is fully weaned off of it.
Bringing Ares in to the vet every week for a checkup on his health is very I important. Infection could easily set in, especially with the bigger of the scars. While I am at the vet I will ask about any tips they have on properly raising and healing Ares. Interacting with him everyday is important because he needs to learn to be around humans. Seeing that I do not own any other Midnight Stallions, I will ask someone who does if we can have scheduled meet ups so that Ares may interact with them and their horse. Introducing him to another horse, especially one of older age, will help teach him manners and good behavior that will help him through his lifetime. Having him socialize with other humans other than me will keep him from becoming over attached to me.
Following the example of how a real dam or mother horse would act, I will not allow any bad behavior from Ares. Even if his actions may seem cute at the time, they will eventually turn into bad habits. Should he playfully nudge me or try to bring me into a game of tag, I will simply ignore him and walk away. Like previously hinted towards, his actions may be harmless at the moment, but can harm both him and I when he is bigger. Don't worry though, I'll still smother him with love and attention!
When Ares is older, I'll start training him. He'll be trained on a lunge line until he appears tame enough. We'll visit the horse vet once more for a checkup on his health and to make sure he is fit enough to be ridden. When deemed healthy, I'll have him fitted for tack and horseshoes. I'll start by introducing the tack to him slowly until he accepts the gear. Once he accept the gear, I'll sit on his back for a short amount of time throughout a week or so until he is fine with me riding him. Then the real training starts. Ares will be just like any other Midnight Stallion with the exception of him having the common vet visit and longer rest times.(There we go! Whew that was a ton of typing! I did that all on my phone and accidentally reloaded the page a few times, deleting my work. I did a bit of research on how to raise a real life foal however some stuff I kind of just assumed. Anyways, I hope I didn't bore you to death, ArtGirl. By the way, yes I realized I didn't need to do art for this and yes, I realize the horse in the drawing doesn't have a scar. However I couldn't draw an okay scar if my life depended, but hey, maybe he doesn't have a scar on that side? I've never drawn a digital horse before and I thought I might as well try this one time for fun
Whoever wins can use the art although I'm not sure why you would want to XD With that, good luck to everyone else competing!)

Age: 4 Months

Care Plan: Well, to start this poor gal off, we will need to get her weight back on track. We will be sure to give her an adopted mother to nurse from until she is old enough to eat grains. Then, we will give her some weight gain formula to help her build up some more fat. She will also be getting water and fluids daily (under close care by our vet) until she is re-hydrated. Because she is cut up and bruised, she will be under careful moderation so that no cuts are reopened and her bruises healed. She will also be receiving lots of attention by our loving barn mates. She will get a lot of loving, and will continue to grow up in loving hands where she will learn to trust us, even though this hardship has made her shy.

Care Plan:
Zion was still weak and young so milk will be a necessity. Bottle-feeding the foal specialised milk is sure to get it back in shape.
Daily cleaning of the wounds are required.
Fattening it up will bring the foal of skin and bones back to health, other than milk, special feed would also be needed.
Every foal will need this but with Zion still recovering, he will need extra care and love. Gently grooming and playing with him is sure to keep him entertained, after all, happiness can also help in recovering.

I would do what the vets told me too. Then I would put him somewhere really safe ( maybe even in the house at nights until healed more. I would give him proper care like any other horse I would own but maybe give him a little more lovens then the others

hehe. I would make sure he was able to socialize a little so he wouldn't be scared of the other horses or anything. I might even get things that normal horse owners would get to help heal his wounds. That seems like all I could do oh well I would find him a foster mom ( hopefully I can win a mare

soon ) sense he is so young but I might just go with bottle feeding
