Summer is always busy at the cafe. Alfie's become accustomed to it, so he doesn't mind the extra customers; more people means more coffee sold. Yawning, he let the apron drop over his head, sleepily tying it into a sloppy bow. He trudged to the counter, eyes half-closed as he set up the till for the day. He then flipped the sign, pushing the door open. The fresh summer breeze made him feel just that little bit more awake. From where he stood, he had a perfect view of the street, gazing out at the river. There weren't too many Viscet's out, but he noticed a few of usual customers making there way towards the building. Stretching quickly, he put a brighter smile on his face. 'Morning, Aidan,' He said as they entered, returning his smile, 'The usual, I assume?' After a nod of conformation, he bobbed around, working away. The background noise of the radio gave the day more of a movie-like feel. When the coffee was done, he handed it over, accepting the cash and slipping it into the till. The rest of his day continued on the same, trading food and drink for the thin paper. By the time the end of the day had arrived, he was even more tired than he had been first thing in the morning. But he was content with the day. Flipping the sign once more, he clicked the lock shut, heading up stairs into his apartment. As he flicked on the lights, a quiet voice made him jump.

'Sorry, Alf!' Merè exclaimed, a laugh slipping between her lips after the words. He rolled his eyes.

'Where's Lux?' He asked, wiggling his nose as he tried to catch the scent of the younger viscling, but all he could smell was the subtle aroma of baked goods that often accompanied his apartment. Tilting his head at her silence, he let his smile slip. 'Merè? Where is he?'

'Boo!' Alfie jumped; high. A yelp left his mouth before he could stop it, and he spun around, letting out a breath as he caught sight of the usual suspect. The viscling had landed on ground, laughing hysterically. No matter how many times he jumped out, or yelled boo, Alfie always got scared. Putting a paw over his chest, Alfie let himself relax, a grin returning to his previously frightened expression. It took a few minutes for Lux to calm down, his laughter quieting until it was silent in the room again. 'I gotcha, didn't I?' He said, bouncing back onto his four paws, ears twitching. Alfie chuckled quietly, nodding.

'Don't you always?' Picking the viscling up by the scruff, Alfie made his way through to the kitchen, Merè following after him, eyes glowing. While Alfie had never been a fan of visclings, he seemed to have connected with Lux, and the sight of the two of them together made her happier than anything. Once they'd reached the table, Alfie plonked Lux onto one of the chairs, heading to the oven to retrieve the cookies he'd baked during the early hours of the morning. At the sight, and smell, of the circular delights, Lux's face lit up, his small paws reaching out eagerly. He was handed one, while the rest were placed on a plate in the centre of the table. 'So, what brings you guys here? I thought you'd be at the beach.'

'We were there earlier,' Lux chimed in, and Merè nodded. 'We got ice-cream, and made sand-castles. I even found a cool starfish!'

'It was really cool,' Merè agreed, and Alfie nudged the viscling gently. 'But, we're here because I've got some good news!' Ears pricked, he turned his attention to her, running his tongue across his lips before taking a bite into one of the cookies. 'We got the tickets, Alf. We're going to ComicCon!' His smile grew wide, feet bouncing on the ground as he attempted to contain his excitement.

'I can't believe you managed to snag them!' He grinned, wrapping her in a tight hug. They'd been trying to get tickets for months, and he had given up all hope of going. After a few minutes of talking excitedly about cosplays, and meet and greets, Alfie's smile faltered. 'What about the cafe?'

'Nebula's promised to do a few hours every day while we're away,' Merè said, taking his paw in hers, 'Don't panic, it's in safe paws, and hey, she's already been home to visit her family for a few weeks, a little bit of work won't kill her.'

'Sephy's coming too,' Lux grinned when the room seemed to quiet, his small voice breaking the invisible barrier, 'And Crow, of course!' Alfie chuckled, shaking his head lightly. The two of them, together, at a big event? What could go wrong?

It had been two years since Pluto had fought his father, two full years since he'd suffered imensly, and it still affected him greatly. It had been summer then, and the light of the sun no longer brought warmth and joy, but a phantom pain in his jaw, and a burning sensation in his eyes. The only joy he had in the summer months was his ageing mother. No matter how hard the days were for the both of them, she remained positive, often times ushering him out into the garden to enjoy the nice weather while it was there. Watering can in hand, he spent every second day watering the numerous plants throughout the massive expanse of the garden. It was his mothers pride and joy, second only to him, so he didn't mind taking care of it when she couldn't. Her energy was drained by the heat, but she reminded him that the heat was good, for it brought proper light for her flowers, and meant the bees would be out. He wasn't quite sure he agreed with her, but the heat gave him an excuse to treat her to ice-cream whenever he could. It was the least he could do.

He supposed it could've been worse. He could've been spending his summer in the over-populated city, hiding from his father's glare. At least in the garden, he knew he was safe, his mother was safe, and his father was long gone. It only brought minimal comfort. Holidays were a thing of the past, but he didn't argue. He didn't think he could stomach a plane ride, and boats were even worse. The furthest they went, was to the local river. There, it was shady, and during the afternoons, the water was calm enough to swim in. It was nice. Bird-watching was easiest by the river, as an abundance of different species seemed to crowd the cool areas near the water. When he was younger, Pluto'd created a small identification chart, and as the summer progressed, he added to the scrappy page, treasuring the memories the small sheet held. Summer wasn't always bad.

      |ʟɪʟɪɴ|
Summer. The season of long days, short nights. Lilian had to admit, it made thieving that bit more difficult; difficult, but not impossible. She enjoyed the extra warmth the sun provided, and the painted sky was mesmerising as the sun set each evening. Even thieves and assassins had simple pleasures in life. For Lilian, the summer sky was it. Even when clouds blocked the light, and rain threatened to fall, it was still beautiful. Wispy streaks of white painted the blue expanse above her on most days, and though she never gained as much during the three summer months, she wouldn't trade it for an extra winter. Holidays weren't really a thing for her, as she travelled a lot anyway. Her job took her from kingdom to kingdom, and wherever she went, she spent at least a few hours "scoping out" the sights before re-focusing. Summer was special. Though she was a winter-born Viscet, her coat wasn't as thick as many, meaning the pleasant heat was just right. She couldn't have asked for anything better. Expect, maybe a crown, but you can't have everything, can you?

      |ᴀɴᴜʙɪs|
The sun shone brightly upon the trees, its rays catching on the leaves, leaving beautiful patterns along the forest floor. Yawning, Anubis stretched out his limbs, trudging on. He'd been travelling for days, but he knew once he reached his destination, it would be worth it. If he were to make it by the solstice, he would have to keep going. When he'd first set out for the pilgrimage, he had mistakenly believe he would only need a week to get from his home by the sea, to the site of the gods, deep within the forest, half-way across the country. As mentioned, he was mistaken. The temple was only a day and a half away now, but the solstice was due in less then 18 hours. His pace quickened as he watched the birds fly past him, his feet leaving thin imprints in the muddy ground as they struck it. While it was sunny now, rain clouds had not long since dispersed, their fallen droplets lingering. His mane was pinned back by a small band of flowers, pushing the soft fibres closer to the skin of his scalp. He didn't mind to much, it kept it out of his eyes. He could feel beads of sweat dripping from the drapes of his elbows and ankles, but still he trekked on. It was journey he carried out every few years, and if he did not arrive on time, it would mean another six years of waiting before he could begin the journey again. He was not willing to wait. The tip of his tail twitched, the air currents sending the flies that had perched upon his rear zipping off, though they circled him again, each taking a chance to land. He rolled his eyes, blowing air from his nostrils to dislodge a pesky insect that had landed nearby. There were many downsides to the forests, but he was willing to sacrifice his comfort during the journey, if it meant completing the rituals. There was a grin on his face as he let the wind whip stray strands of fur from his face, his feet no longer leaving light marks, instead imprinting deep within the unsettled mud. He had to narrow his eyes as he ran, trying to keep the wind from burning at them. It was freeing, almost.

There was a soft whisper in the air as he began to slow down, his side aching. It had only felt like minutes since he started running, but as he watched the sun, he realised it had been much longer. Cursing the distraction, he skidded to a stop, turning in circles to figure out where on earth he was. If he had just left when he was supposed to. If he had just made sure he was following the right paths. Fallen twigs flew to the sides of the forest floor as his tail, low to the ground, swished back and forth in sharp, perturbed waves. After minutes of searching for any sign of his original trail, he knew he couldn't find it by sight, not anymore. Closing his eyes tightly, he took a few deep breaths in, exhaling steadily through his mouth as he tried to focus on the sounds around him. One thing he had noticed, is that when he had stopped, the sounds of the forest birds had silenced. The wind, as though speaking to him, rushed through his ears, catching on the sensitive furs. And then he was turning, running. His nose twitched and flared, catching stray scents, his ears perked. He could almost taste the temple he was so close. As he skidded around a large oak, he only managed to stop himself sliding over the edge of the sudden drop.

'No...' He murmured, eyes wide, tongue licking nervously at his lips. His tail had stopped moving entirely, instead the long, thin extremity was tucked between his back legs, curling around the left one so only the tip of the furred end brushed the ground. The sun had disappeared completely, and in its absence, he knew he had failed. Eyes, fogged over with un-fallen tears, scanned the horizon, the stillness of the forest below, and behind. There was silence, only broken by a quiet so escaping his maw.

'Why, my child,' A quiet voice, so quiet he almost missed it, whispered, 'are you here, all alone, surrounded by so much sorrow?' If the wind was whistling, he would've missed the words, but even it had stopped. Turning, he let out a quiet gasp at the sight. The glow surrounding the Viscet gave it an ethereal look, and a soft smile appeared on his face. He bowed low, but kept his eyes on her.

      'How did you find me?'

'I never left you, my child. Now come, we wouldn't want to be late, hm?'

With the sun, came the loggers, collecting fallen trees, clearing up the rubble of destruction they'd left in their wake. For Maui, this was not an unusual sight. Ever since he was young, they would appear at his home. At the beginning of his life, they were friendly, bearing gifts of fresh fruit. Their younglings would crouch down, holding small slices of peach, orange, for the visclings to take. It was a bond that started years before Maui's time, and it continued, for a while at least. Then, came the worst winter they'd ever faced. Many died, due to the cold, the lack of food, or trapped in heavy snowfall. The humans, it seemed, had suffered also. Their villages were dying out, and there seemed to be no hope. It seemed, that it was fate, that as the humans were beginning to attempt to flee, the sun shone upon them once more. But their resources were scarce, and that's when the turned to the forest. Instead of praying to the spirits in the trees, they brought metal, weapons, to tear through the wood, breaking the spirits from the roots, trapping them beneath the soil. They were careful, at first, to avoid injuring the living Viscets, but it was not long before they no longer cared. Many fled, many died. By the time they were done, only one remained, determined to protect the last standing trees of his home; Maui. The humans had spent a few months in silence, away from the forests, and after winter, and spring, had passed, they returned, but this time without the loud machines. Without the intent to hurt. It was too late. As the sun shone down, its rays of warmth spreading across the ground, Maui knew that he would not see his forest in all its glory, standing tall in the summer breeze, ever again. And he vowed, to the remaining spirits, to his lost family, to himself, that he would protect what was left of his home, whether it be summer, winter, autumn, or spring. He would never let a tragedy this large proceed again.

"Waterswell?" Ambrose quest/]ioned as he looked at the mystical river before him.

"Yes, Waterswell." Adelaide confirmed, "It travels north on the left side and south on the right side." she explained as she looked over the river. "See? Watch it carefully and you can tell."

Ambrose's eyes widened as he paid attention to the currents "What? That's so cool! I can not believe I've never heard of it!" he turned to grin at his newly-acquired sister for only a moment before turning back around "It really is magical, sister." he stepped up closer, and Adelaide gripped his sash lightly-- just in case he were to falter his footing near the bank.

"Be careful." she warned before straightening up and letting the sash flutter back by his side "You can get pulled apart by this river if you're to fall in, it's very dangerous. But it is beautiful, and the banks are full of rare and magical plants for potions. In fact, why don't you help me gather some of them that we might need on the journey back?"

It was a beautiful summer, yet not too hot. Perfect weather for visiting yet another magical spot during their travels to introduce young Ambrose to his two other sisters. All of them were witches, of course. Their shared father was a powerful mage, and all of them had inherited his innate magical ability. Adelaide had only recently found Ambrose, and he had been more than willing to leave with her to meet his other family once his mother had agreed to let him travel. The trip had started out as a straight stretch, with Adelaide taking only a little time during the evenings to explain any new magicks to the young, budding mage. She spent time teaching him how to use his arm-bangle-- which was a magic conduit he possessed of great power. They might have made it all the way to their sisters' home if she hadn't asked him a simple question.

"You've seen the Lights of the Hinterland, haven't you?" Adelaide had asked as they passed by a small village bordering a large river.

Of course, young Ambrose had not-- he had never left his village before. When he explained this to Adelaide she had seemed aghast.

They had stayed in that village to see the dancing lights in the distance that evening.

From there on out their straight-stretch trip had turned into a magical adventure. They went out of their way several times just for Adelaide to show him some obscure magical artifact or area.

Ambrose learned about his heritage, and of magic itself. Adelaide spent far more time tutoring him after that, but it still all felt like an adventure to the young mage.

Ambrose felt like he had learned a lot already, not even a month into their magical summer. He had seen so many things and been amazed by it all, but nothing quite would add up to the adventure he was about to face as they began to travel alongside the river dubbed Waterswell to their next magical destination while they kept an eye out for those potion ingredients.

"What is that... noise?" Ambrose questioned quietly as he looked to the mountain range in the distance.

"Those there." Adelaide pointed ahead "Are the Whistling Mountains. Only magical creatures and beings-- such as ourselves-- can hear them. And the forests surrounding the mountains are basically a thriving ecosystem of magical creatures and plants."

Ambrose's expression shifted from excitement to wariness.

"Are they dangerous?" he asked quietly.

"Some." Adelaide responded "But they're far deeper in than where we're going. We'll just stay on the outskirts. They won't be attracted out either as long as we don't do any very serious magic" she assured him as she lightly tousled his hair. "Come on now, we want to set camp before nightfall."

They did make it to the treeline in enough time to set up camp and build a fire, though when it grew dark Adelaide was quite quick to douse the fire and settle for the night.

As they usually did, Ambrose settled down in his freshly-situated bedding a couple of yards from Adelaide. He fell asleep quickly to the sounds of cicadas and the whistling sounds coming from the mountains.

Unlike every other night prior, Ambrose with a feeling of dread growing in his gut. He shuffled up out of his bedding, his heartbeat hammering in his chest like a jackrabbit. He shuffled about before finding his hat and placing it on his head. He adjusted his clothing to busy his paws, straightening wrinkles carefully. He didn't know what had him scared, or what felt amiss until he shifted to adjust his armlet.

It was gone.

His armlet was gone, and he felt his blood running cold.

It couldn't be gone! That wasn't possible!

He scrambled around, running his paws all through his beddings trying to find it.

It wasn't there, there wasn't a single sign of it. He could feel the panic growing, and his chest tightening with anxiety.

And worst of all... he could feel the magic seeping out.

That hadn't happened in so long. In his younger years, before his father had given him the charm for his armlet, he hadn't been able to control his flow of magic. It was too much of this young, inexperienced mind and small body to hold in without help. He was more experienced now, but he still wasn't ready to hold in the magic himself.

"And if I can't control the flow of my magic..." Ambrose's eyes widened at the thought. "Then I could be putting mi hermana in danger!" he grimaced at the very idea of putting his brilliant, newly-acquired sister in real danger. "She said too much magic could bring out creatures..."

Really, he had considered waking her up and telling her the situation-- he really had-- but it had seemed like such a risk at the time. And he needed his charm back, no matter what. Later he would think it was a crazy idea, to run off in the dead of night to chase after his talisman, but it seemed like the only option at the time.

So, before he could even question his idea too much, he set out to search for his armlet in the forests ahead of them.

He could sense his armlet. He was pretty sure he knew what direction to follow in, and so he continued his way forward until it was too deep in the forest for the light of the moon to reach past the ever-taller (and more densely grown) trees. He eventually managed to use magic (which was quite a bit harder without a conduit) to make a ball of light so that he could continue on searching.

Ambrose felt a shiver up run up his fine, making his mane prickle under his clothing but he shook the feeling of apprehension off as he continued forward, trying to feel out for his magical item. He couldn't let a little irrational fear turn him around with his tail between his legs. He trudged on, breathing slowly to still his wild heart.

His breaths began to really slow as he settled himself into a comfortable walking rhythm, but he couldn't quite stop himself from peering over his shoulder occasionally.

He jerked around after a few minutes, he was so sure he heard a twig snap. There was nothing there at all though that he could see. He shook his head of it as well, blaming his nerves.

Except it happened again. Twice. After the third unexplained noise, Ambrose stopped, and for the first time, he realized that he could no longer hear the cicadas. There was no wind rustling the trees any longer either. He lowered his paw, and the light from the ball dimmed only a little. Now he could barely even hear his surroundings over the beating of his heart in his ears.

He didn't hear anything else, but he couldn't quite dispell the sense of dread creeping in his chest this time.

Ambrose gathered his courage and turned around, taking a few cautious steps int he direction he thought he had heard the noise last.

His fast pulse rared it's ugly head once more as he tried (and failed) to swallow the lump in his throat.
He walked around the tree and... nothing.

He huffed lightly, chuckling at himself as he picked a stick up off the ground and slashed it through the air.

"I have a sword now." he joked quietly "I'd like to see something sneak up on me now." he quietly convinced himself there was no danger and continued again, taking things a little more slowly than before.

He could swear he felt eyes on him... but he didn't turn around this time. He continued forward until the dread had begun to dull.

He could feel his armlet close. He knew it had to be close now as he approached a small clearing. The armlet was sitting int he exact center of the clearing. Now, Ambrose might have been suspicious had he not been so relieved to find his armlet finally. He didn't even think about the noises from before as he slipped it back onto his arm. He breathes a sigh of relief as he could feel his magic settle back into control. It would all be alright now, he was sure.

At least, he thought so until he saw a figure in the corner of his eyes. But as quickly as he turned his head, it was gone again. He frantically looked around, to no avail, before taking off in a dead run this time. He wasn't taking any chances.

He thought the figure was chasing him, and he threw his stick behind him as he slid around a tree and continued to run. He weaved through the trees at an alarming rate. Along the way, he dropped his ball of light.

He no longer cared.

All he cared about was making his way back to his sister. He had to get out of that forest. He had to have her help. He was too scared to think of anything else as he rushed blindly in the dark, falling over brambles and bushes.

He slapped straight into a tree and tumbled backward... into something warm.

He jerked and gasped as he tried to push away from the body he had landed into, but to no avail. His hat dropped to the ground and he began to flail about as he was turned upside down.

He screamed-- loudly.

"Let me down! Let me down! Please! Please! I am begging you! I am just a boy! I mean you and your home no harm, I swear! I only came for my possession, nothing else!"

He could feel the hot breath of another being on his cheek as the blood rushed to his head. He couldn't see a thing, but he could hear soft chuckling at his ear.

Was this how he was going to die?

But all of a sudden, the area lit up, and he screamed again as long, white teeth glimmered in the new light.

"Ahhhhh!!!!!!" He screamed again, more frightened with the light revealing what he had seen than he had been before.

But attached to the teeth was a face. A beautiful face-- actually-- of.. a viscet?

Saoirse, the viscet in question, dropped him. He landed on his head, rubbing his skull and groaning.

"Ay, why would you do that?" he hissed "Who are you? What do you want with me?" Ambrose asked. It was hard to be nearly as scared of this viscet. She looked too sweet and innocent. Like someone playing around.

Which, actually, was what she was doing.

"You should have seen your face!" Saoirse exclaimed, mirth in her voice.

"This isn't funny! You scared me to death this whole time! Who are you?!" Ambrose glanced to her teeth again-- they weren't much stranger than his own he decided, but they were huge. "Is she a magical beast? he found himself wondering.

"I'm Saoirse." She responded "I'm a fae. And this is my forest. It's right next to the lady Makenna's mountain. You are trespassing, you know." she teased as she booped his nose "You should be careful in a fae's territory, little guy. Some fae would snatch up such a cute little mage like you right away."

Ambrose grimaced. He hadn't heard nice things about fae, particularly. But she seemed... rather harmless enough.

Oddly enough, this fae helped him back to his camp, though she never did apologize for taking his armet or scaring him nearly to death.

Adelaide certainly wasn't happy when they arrived at dawn. She warned him against fae. And yet they did stay for a couple more days, and they both spent time conversing with the young fae before continuing on their next adventure for the summer. This would continue until almost into the fall, not that Ambrose would mind. Thankfully, however, he had no more scares such as he had had at the base of the Whistling Mountains.

If he was being honest though, by the end of it that might have been his favorite summer adventure anyway. Even if he had been scared out of his wits throughout that particular experience.

You guys... seriously did not make it easy on us! X'D This was honest to goodness one of the toughest competitions that I've had to judge in a long time and I want each and everyone who entered to just know that you should be proud! Its competitions and events like this that really remind me of how talented our community is as a whole and that reminder is exactly why I'm so proud to be in staff. Thank you all for you're dedication and determination to build and create your characters! It truly is inspiring and I look forward to seeing everyones continual growth and improvement over the summer!

Now before we start, Theres some things that need to be addressed for future prompts.
1. You should not use a viscet that does not exist. Minor npc's are a ok as long as they hold no major role. However, writing in currently unexsisting viscets POVs are not advised. Even if they're a custom in progress, you need to wait for the custom to be completed before you can write about it, at least to post it for competition.

2. Be very careful with times. Many of these have very strict end times and even an edit one minute over risks disqualifying your form. Be super careful about this! There were some forms that really cut it close in this prompt so just be wary in the future.

3. The items given away in this event. Currently I don't believe there is a claim thread so just hold onto those items. Before the event ends there should be one created and you can claim your items then! Or there will be another method in which you can redeem your items. We will inform you when the time comes!

That being said, let's get down to business. <3 First up is the forms that reached the minimum requirements. Users listed below will receive the following; x1 Stubs & 1 raffle ticket for weekly raffle

Next up is those who exceeded the minimum requirement/came near or reached the maximum limits! Users listed below will receive the following; x2 Stubs, x1 Items & 1 raffle ticket for weekly raffle

Then we have special mentions! These are the forms that met all the above points while also showing exceptional connection to the summer prompt! Users listed below will receive the following; x3 Stubs, x2 Items & 1 raffle ticket for weekly raffle

And finally our top 2 forms! These are the forms that Yugi and I selected as the ones that impacted us the most! Congratulations to our winners! XD The users listed below will receive the following; 1 of the Weekly Event Adopts, x2 Items & 1 raffle ticket for weekly raffle

Now since this is the first adopt, let me quickly summarize the process in which yugi and I selected which cets are given to which user. Using Random Number Generator, the staff rolls for a number between 1 and 100. Each of the top two forms will have half the numbers. For example, user 1 will have 1 - 50 while user 2 will have 51 - 100. Depending on what number is rolled will determine which viscets go where!

For Viscet #2555; the winner is Golden-Boy!

For Viscet #2556; the winner is grifforik!

A mega congrats to all our winners! If you have any questions about how we judged the forms or about suggestions we might make, feel free to ask!

And last but not least, I want to give a huge thank you to Yugi in all of this! Many of you probably noticed that i haven't been the most active this week. On top of starting my internship this week I also had some IRL stuff to deal with and Yugis gone above and beyond to help me out while keeping me informed about the comp since I've been dealing with that! Thank you so much, my dude! It's been a blast! <3<3<3 XD

Oh my lord this is totally unexpected!! I literally thought I was dreaming for a good few minutes! [ and well, it is 1am where i live so it might be that too ] So many people had such great forms, I'm surprised I won! Congratulations to grifforik too, you had such wonderful art even if you unfortunately couldn't finish it ;w;. I hope to develop this lad a lot in the coming few days! Thanks to Yugi and cyber for trudging through with judging all the wonderful entries, must've been super tough haha!

This lad's name will be Atlan and they're gonna be a Male!

He's probably going to be connected to my Viscet Eleya to expand on his adventures of learning to swim, but we'll see exactly how he'll be connected eventually ;w;
