Prompt #1

He was enjoying a drink on the deck when it happened, sun warming his fur from eats to tail. It was a great change from slouching over in his chair and busting his hands for other people. Finally there was someone being paid to give him a little well earned R&R while his mate takes her own break. It was a good run, a cheap ticket, a great time already written in history books he'd read his kids! Of course he needed to have kids first but that was all in the fine print. His smoothie was popping with berry flavor as he went for another swig only to spill it all over his face.
The boat jerked. So violently in fact his chair scooted against the deck an inch or so. Strawberry smoothie stuck to his fur, he sits up and glances out of the top of his shades at the other passengers. Seems like a pretty big shock to everyone, not a drill... Cleaning himself off the best he could with napkins, he walks to the side of the ship to entertain whatever was happening. Rocks? Whales? Iceberg!? Hylo tended to keep a cool head, but he could feel worry spiking in the back of his mind. He didn't want his mate getting a call that he'd died on a cruse reenacting the titanic...
The intercom came on as a bunch of muffled noises and static, followed by the saddest alert he'd ever heard in his life. It couldn't even call itself a siren if it wanted to, but perhaps that wasn't the point of it anyway. What was the captain saying? To the ballroom for some announcement? Didn't take long to hear the boat was broken down and they were to be stranded on a nearby island until further notice. Gross news, but not the worst thing he could hear. At least it was repairs that could be made here and not something that'd take a year of flights and shipping to restore. Overall, he wasn't sure how to feel. Neutral perhaps? It'd be much more fun to run on the sand and play in the ocean, but at the same time that also meant he'd be more closely shuffling with the other tourists and likely sharing a room or hut with a stranger. Opportunity or curse? He'd find out someday soon.
