- Prompt #1 with Aisake.
Aisake stared in dismay at the phone. "Tonight?" he repeated. "That's- no. That's impossible."
On the other end of the line, Kotone made a frustrated sound. "I've been trying to tell you for a week now, and this is when it finally sinks in?"
Aisake ignored her and began pacing back and forth. "No, no, I haven't done anything! I don't have a costume yet- I don't even know what I'll dress up as! This is horrible! I'm just going to hide under my bed the entire night, I can never face the world again."
"Aisake." Kotone's voice hissed out of the phone like a snake. "Stop being dramatic. You've got time. Just look through your closet, pick something, and get ready to go. It's Halloween, not the end of the world. If nothing else, you can go as yourself and say you're a galaxy."
Aisake stopped his frantic pacing, thinking that over. After a moment, a heady grin spread across his face. "Ah, Kotone, love of my life, thou who bringeth joy and wonder to my days, have I ever told you how much I appreciate you?"
"No." Kotone droned. "Now stop messing around and get your costume done. I'll be over with the boys in two hours. You'd better be ready by then, or we're leaving you behind." With this final threat, she hung up, leaving Aisake to his work.
Two hours later, Aisake opened the door to greet Kotone, who appeared to be a vampire hunter. "Is the rest of the troop here?" he asked, standing on the tips of his toes to peer over her shoulder. Acci, dressed as a vampire (Typical, Aisake thought), waved at him with a grin, while Wolf, who didn't seem to be dressed up as anything, gave him a flat, disinterested look. Behind them stood Jennis, dressed up like a gladiator.
"We dropped by her house on the way," Kotone said, following Aisake's look. "She, unlike a certain idiot on this street, actually had her costume ready. Where's yours?"
Aisake clapped his paws in excitement. "That is just what I wanted to show you, my friends!"
"What a coincidence," drawled Wolf, speaking up for the first time. "That's exactly what we came to see. Bring it out."
Aisake darted back into the house for his costume, and came out garbed in a long, draping midnight blue robe that faded to a royal violet at the bottom. All along the sides, it was speckled with sequined stars, and a silver glitter depicted swathes of stars in the background. His head was adorned with a wreath of silver leaves, small planets, and glowing stars. There was a moment of silence as everyone took in the full effect.
Wolf, as per usual, shattered the moment with an acerbic remark. "You're wearing a dress."
Aisake frowned and crossed his arms over his chest. "So? You're not wearing a costume at all."
The Viscet ignored him, instead leaning forward to squint at Aisake's crown. "Is... is that our solar system mobile from third grade? I can't believe you took it apart, I worked so hard on that-"
"Don't judge," Aisake huffed indignantly and turned to the rest of his friends, arms wide open in appeal. "Please tell him my costume is great?"
Kotone shrugged. "It's, uh, creative, I'll give you that."
Jennis stared at the robe. "That's my dress, the one I let you borrow. You ruined it."
Aisake gaped at them in disappointed betrayal. "That's cold, you guys."
"Well, I for one think it's spectacular!" Acci offered his own support.
"You don't have anything to say," Wolf growled. "You're a vampire. How cliche can you even get-"
Aisake glared at his utterly useless friends as they devolved into bickering like children. "Let's just go," he muttered, hefting his treat bucket over his shoulder. "Hopefully someone giving out candy will appreciate my costume more than you."
