Prompt: 5.What is your Pokémons personality?
If you have to describe Merlin the Shinx in one word, it would be emotional. He has no sense of long-term awareness, but completely decides based on what is right in front of him at that moment. He changes his desires and wants on a whim. This means he has no sure plan for his life. He sort of just follows one flashy thing to the next. This Shinx doesn't really have the discipline to say no to something for the long-term benefit. Merlin can be incredibly competitive, gutsy, easily excitable, and impulsive. He has an inner need to prove himself. In battles, he tends to go all out, not saving his energy, and quickly becomes so tired he ends up being vulnerable.
When faced with difficult situations, he is quick to whine and is easily overwhelmed. When overwhelmed, he's prone to giving up.
He's uncomfortable around those who are dull, lazy or reserved. It's hard for him to read their expressions, and the Shinx is unsure how to act around them. He's very extroverted and feeds off the energy and excitement of others.
In addition, Merlin has a flair for the dramatic and a passion for presentation. He wants things to be his way, exactly how he imagined it in his head. In Renton's team of entertainers, he does the behind-the-scenes work. He likes to make electrical moves and makes presentation work for the Pokémon in shows or fights. It can be considered an intimidation tactic when it comes to battle.

Merlin hails from the region of Sinnoh in the charming, natural paths near Floaroma Town.
He used to be a part of Raylor's wild pack. There was talk that he could be the next leader since he was the nephew of Raylor. However, when Raylor left to Fuego Ironworks, he found himself quitting too. He took an interest in Mr. Fuego and his work.
Others in the pack joined him, too, including brothers and sisters of his. Mr. Fuego had been impressed by Pearl's Luxray, so he was pleased to have Sninx to train and evolve. When they became Luxrays, their x-ray vision would come in handy to inspect the machinery for any need of repairs. In addition, he began working on new things outside of the ironworks business.
Mr. Fuego became interested in fireworks. Before, there would be the use of gunpowder and sparklers leading them to be uncolored. Still beautiful, but Mr. Fuego pushed further to introduce color to his majestic displays. Now, he found a way to electronically ignite the fireworks to create the perfect precision he desired. He used the Shinx to power up the equipment. On special holidays and festivals, people from Floaroma and Jubilife city would visit to see the firework display. It attracted customers, so it was good for business. Eventually, it attracted visitors from other parts of the region as well.
The fireworks were loud, however, and they scared off several of the surrounding Pokémon, including most of the Shinx Pack. Some stayed behind, including Merlin. He was fascinated and enamored by the fireworks display. It became his entire world to watch the show and watch the reactions of others. It made a sense of awe and pride swell up in his chest. After a while, the fireworks display was not as exciting as it used to be. Mr. Fuego stopped experimenting with the show and did the same tricks every time. It grew frustrating and monotonous, and Merlin would often complain during the show. The remaining Shinx evolved and had bigger parts and attention. Merlin grew even unhappier. After work, while bathing in the lake, two of his friends finally and warmly suggested that he should seek something else. It seemed the place bored him, and surely that meant it wasn't for him anymore. He was scared to go alone, though. Nobody else seemed dissatisfied but him.
One day, he noticed a giant dragon-like figure. For the short little lynx-like cat, he was stunned by the view. It appeared the Dragapult had a trainer. A blonde man with emerald-green eyes had come to see the late-night fireworks show. While the trainer and his Pokémon enjoyed the show, the Shinx watched them with great interest. Gideon had multiple technology and gadgets; he was using them to record the show to show his friends. As the Shinx watched in awe, Gideon was equally enjoying the show.
Later, Gideon approached Mr. Fuego to talk about his display, wanting to learn more of the science behind it and how exactly it was done. He was rather impressed by it all. After hearing of the Shinx's involvement, he wanted one of his own and asked if there was a trade available. Mr. Fuego had noticed that Merlin had been dissatisfied and wasn't doing as well at his work as he used to. He offered Gideon the Shinx for free, so Gideon happily took him and named him James.
Merlin was excited about traveling and got along well with Jemina and the Dreepys she took care of. Jemina began treating him like one of her own children. Now, he wasn't as keen of her giving him orders and advice, but he did enjoy having someone help him to stop and look at the bigger picture every once in a while. However, Gideon noticed that Merlin was competitive but was not truly passionate about fighting. He had much more interest in showmanship. He offered his friend, Renton, the Shinx, since Renton and his Pokémon were much more connected to the theater and shows. The Shinx was renamed to Merlin by Renton he felt it aligned more with the Shinx's own interests. Merlin was truly happy among Renton's team as he got to work as an effect designer.

This Seedot feels happier in the sunshine. You can find her outside often being creative. When she's inside, it is in the wee hours of the morning making her an early bird. Renton calls her an early nut for waking up so early.
She actually has the urge to snatch and take things, especially if they're shiny, fit her aesthetic, or inspire her for an art project. So, she's a thief. If she wants something, she's going to get it. Despite being a hoarder, she's hyper-organized. Everything MUST be in its place. She's also can be awkward as heck if caught. She's not the best liar. Mariah Paige loves making art, making ocs, sprinkles, dessert-type treats, animals (Pokémon), circus themes, pastel colors, and rainbows. She adores cute things. She's known by her friends as being the creative one. They're always asking her to do art for them, but she's sort of self-focused. She just likes making her own stuff and not for other people. Her favorite character is a green furret named Cucumber. She's drawn her a gazillion times.

Mariah Paige hails from Kanto. She was born near Lavender Town. The Seedot and her twin sister were the first capture by a new Pokémon trainer named Cooper, a poke maniac. He was considered a strange kid, who dressed up all the time, but stayed mostly alone and reserved. Many thought he dressed up to call attention to himself, but it was really to inspire himself past his pain and sickness. So, he excitedly grabbed a pair of Seedots instead of one. He just threw pokeballs at whatever crossed his path first.
He mostly stayed in the naturally developed rock tunnel. At first, he liked the idea of hunting down ghosts, but he gradually grew to fall in love with the Pokémon types he found in the tunnel. This led to Cooper mostly looking for steel/rock type Pokémon, but he kept the Seedots out of nostalgia. The light doesn't travel very far inside and can be pitch black. Cooper loved the dark for two reasons. First, he was prone to migraines. Second, he found the prospect of fighting in the dark thrilling.
While Cooper loved the dark, Mariah Paige utterly detested it. When she was out in the light, which was rare, it felt like a breath of fresh air. Later on, when she obsesses over pastel and light colors, it's partially because she felt so shunned from color for so long. Mariah loved art, and she liked the costumes Cooper wore. Her favorite memories were creating art with Cooper, her sister, and the rest of the team. Sometimes, he had everyone wear costumes and accessories. He would help the Pokémon make the costumes themselves.
After a bit, he noticed that Mariah Paige would steal many of the other Pokémons' accessories. She collected it into a neat horde under his bed. He realized that she wanted many cool and pretty things too, but it seemed she was immensely frustrated at her lack of hands. She had trouble making anything.
Cooper acknowledged this and pushed her into making paintings. All she needed was to dip her feet in the paint, and she could make markings on the canvas. It opened a whole new world for the Seedot. That night, she went through all the paper Cooper owned. He had to ask his parents for more. Thankfully, he was an only child, and his family was quite well off. So, they bought a whole load more. Mariah then spent every night painting. She painted at least one picture every day no matter how tired she was. Sometimes, her sister joined in.
Eventually, Cooper got over the nostalgia of having the Seedots. He wanted to train more steel/rock type Pokémon, and he didn't have the heart to stuff them forever in a PC storage box completely abandoned. So, he ended up trading them both away. One to different trainers. He tried to give them both away, but nobody wanted two Seedots. One of those who traded was Rylanie Viro. She noticed the Seedot and gladly traded a Pawniard for it. Mariah Paige and her sister didn't show it, but they were very sad to split apart. They hugged Cooper and each other tightly. Mariah gifted some of her paintings to her twin, and her twin gave her some of her own pictures.
Rylanie framed a few in a frame that Mariah coated in glitter and paint. It's probably her most treasured possession.

Before becoming fossilized, Hunter Drake was very powerful, and he knew how to use his strength to his advantage. The Dracovish was one of the best hunters and typically had a surplus of food. He wasn't moved to share it, though. He learned to be arrogant and rude under his father's lead. He was known to be incredibly impulsive.
He didn't wake up from being a fossil as the same Dracovish. He's gotten docile compared to how he used to be when he was younger. Now, he was not the brightest bulb and is slow at processing all the new things around him. While he still retains some of his strength, he gets nervous outside of battle. During a battle, he finds his momentum and old instincts becoming fearless. He still has remains of his old personality. So, the Dracovish is still somewhat swayed by his ambitious and extroverted tendencies. While others perceive him as a bit ditzy and docile, he can be very smart when it comes to wilderness survival, hunting, and cooking. He has good practical knowledge of the wild and what is edible. While the city has changed, the wilderness hasn't. He's not much of a tyrant as he once was, but he does have high expectations of others. Sometimes Snapjaw, his teammate, calls him out for demanding too much of others.
Before, he was impulsive, but now the world is completely new. So, he sorts of gazes upon all in childlike interest and wonder. He is not easily angered anymore. Nothing really bothers him as he is not attached to anything.
Now, Hunter Drake has come away with some quicks. For example, he likes talking to his trainer as if he could understand rambling to him about whatever is on his mind. His trainer doesn't really mind, and Hunter Drake basically treats these times like therapy sessions. When making major decisions and he finds himself conflicted, he has started to imagine other versions of himself and argues with himself internally.
Snapjaw the Totodile, lowkey thinks that Hunter Drake is insane.
Gideon the trainer has taught him to play jump rope, and he's obsessed over it. He enjoys showing the younger Pokémon in the party of trainers like Daidaiiro the Torchic and Merlin the Shinx jumping tricks and playing with them. While he has a strong jaws and leg muscles, he has weak ankles. So, sometimes he can't keep up with them.

This Dracovish was found the desert town of Stow-on-Side in Galar. He awoke as the ancient mural collapsed watching the ancient kings that ruled in his time fall asunder to the ground crumbling into ashes. It was a startling view that left him speechless. After the startlement, he felt void and confused. The world around him was utterly different. People spoke strangely, dressed differently, and even the Pokémon themselves looked different.
The place was overwhelming. He ended up being drawn to the luminous maze of Glimwood Forest. In there, he spent time recollecting of his past. His species nearly went into extinction overhunting their prey. So, Hunter Drake did what he knew best. He hunted. He remained alone, growing into the habit of talking to himself. That never quite went away.
In his past days, he acted like a tyrannical bully. He was the son of one of the strongest Dracovish. His father had a genetic defect that fused a part of his bone, making him stronger than the average Dracovish, which were already known for their strength. He never was as strong as his father, which made him a bit insecure, but nevertheless, he was still stronger than average. Hunter Drake used it to his advantage. He helped in the overhunting of the prey they all depended on. Because of their built-up reputation, no one messed with him or his father. He was typically seen with his dad so often that others would expect the other when seeing one.
When other Pokémon did near his territory, he did lash out and attempt to intimidate them.
At some point, his father died after an impulsive attack with many against one. A couple grabbed Hunter Drake and pinned him down. For once, he couldn't break himself free to aid his father when it took a turn for the worse. The world he knew shattered. He could no longer terrorize others without succumbing to flashbacks. It made him become more cowardly and he detested that about himself. He hated that he couldn't save his father.
He eventually fled from his old territory, and he got caught up in a sandstorm. Then he would awake in Stow-on-side.
Now, in his hunting spree in the Glimwood forest, he came across a short boy with a ghastly looking Totodile. He stayed away from him, hidden as he had been overwhelmed by the sight of humans before. Now, it began to rain after he had wandered away from the human. So, he was seeking a good section of tree canopy to shield him from the rain. He stumbled on the same boy from before, sleeping in a tent. He wandered in, snuggling in. The sight of the boy and the Pokémon brought a pang to his heart. A faint feeling in his chest of the fatherly-son bond he had once forgotten. It was fuzzy sentiment, and he didn't quite get the significance of it. Pushing the distant memory away, he realized the boy was stirring awake. The two stared at each other in utter fascination and intrigue. Garrus had to hide his excitement out of fear of startling the Dracovish away. He proceeded to slowly move his hand to his bag and grab a pokeball. In a flash, he quickly threw the ball, capturing the Pokémon.
Hunter Drake was named after two characters from one of GJ's childhood games, "Fossil Hunters." The Dracovish didn't mind following the human and his ghost Totodile. In fact, he grew to enjoy the quiet times when the Totodile would just chill, and Garrus would play video games on his DS. As Garrus played, he got into the habit of talking. He really didn't mind that Garrus couldn't understand and didn't respond back. Garrus would just nod acting as if he was listening, and the Dracovish would just ramble away about his feelings, the vague memories that lingered in the back of his head, and his wishes. It was sort of nice just to dump it all out. When Hunter Drake would eventually meet Garrus' friends, he would continue the habit of just talking to them. The other three were much more attentive, intrigued, and amused by the attempt at communication.
