Clan: xAge: 45 moons
Prompt:She sat waiting in the rocks, tail flicking in slight anticipation. The morning sun was just passing the base of the distant treeline, the sky flourishing in shades of pink and pale blue. The scent of mouse was on her tongue, and she could hear the soft movements from within the rock crevice. And if she really listened, she was definitely sure that there was more than one. There was no use trying to get them from within the crevice, they were too far back for her to reach. If they just managed to move around from the safety of the rocks, she’d have them in an instant.
She began to crouch closer to the ground as the mice began moving towards the entrance. Her heart pounded in her chest as she evened her breaths, trying to stay still. Finally a mouse came into range, not noticing the stealthy cat a few tail lengths away. Her moment, her chance. But as she was ready to make her move, she heard sounds of movement and rocks tumbling from the peaks above from behind her. Nothing of any danger, just likely another animal knocking small rocks down as they ran or scraped the ground. The mice didn’t seem to notice, so she didn't dare look back and giver herself away. Finally as she leapt forward, ready to strike the mouse under her paws, but a loud bleating noise came from behind. A gasp left her, Darkflares’ head whipping around in shock. Her paws landed everywhere except where the mice were, and the easy prey was gone in an instant.
She jumped to her paws and looked to see a small mountain goat just before her, who had seemed to have tumbled a ways down the mountain. She hissed at it, charging at the goat, hoping for it to run in fear. But it only stood there, looking at her, not the slightest amount of fear in its eyes. Darkflare stopped as she realized it wasn’t afraid of her, but continued to glare at it. “What are you, a threat? Not afraid of me huh? I’d chop you up for all my friends if I-” She began to growl, but was cut off as it bleated loudly at her, directly in her face.
Her claws dug into the ground with such fury, “I’ve had it with you!” She hissed, stepping forward, about to swipe her claws across the goats’ pathetic face. But another sound of tumbling rocks caused her to freeze, seeing a much larger mountain goat from above. Heading directly at her at a rapid pace, eyes full of anger, and horns as hard as a rock itself.
Darkflare spun around on her heels and made a getaway back to camp, not daring to look back once. Once she crawled through the thorn wall, out of breath, the others looked at her and asked what had happened. But she was too embarrassed to explain herself, hesitating. A sound of the mountain goat bleating sounded out in the distance, and others began to pick up the scent of the goat on her. Chuckles arose around the grassy clearing, about Darkflare’s fear of the harmless mountain goat. She tried to explain herself, but was cut out by everyone's laughter. It even seemed their leader, Buckstar, was getting the biggest kick out of it. She narrowed her eyes, looking back at the peaks. “Mountain goats.” She growled foully, before sulking off to her den.
