Sorry to double posy, I hope this is where I'm supposed to write the stories of Hedwig and Cinna. I hope minor name changes to the title's labels are alright
Hedwig's Retrieval:
Cas arrived at the AISP adoption center again, her first time being here had brought her to Toasty. She had put her name in for a raffle when she came here the first time and thought nothing of it afterwards. Her mind on her dun filly and getting her home, she was more than a little surprised to find she had won a mare with a foal on the way as well.
It had taken a while to sink in, even standing here, watching her new leopard appy through the bars of a round pen, Cas couldn't believe this gorgeous lady was hers as well.
Hedwig didn't care about Cas as she bolted around the round pen. The helpers and her had though up a plan to convince the mare to run into the horse trailer for quick loading and ride home.
This mare wasn't having it though and kept turning her rear to anyone who ran up too close to her hindquarters, one helper ducked out of the way almost too late. Cas's heart was pounding, worried she would have to watch her newest horse hurt someone just trying to get her home.
Another helper started to swing a rope before using it to sweep against the mare's bum. That brought about even more kicking before the mare took the final option she had left. Bolting into the trailer and coming to a dead halt right at the end. The trailer door closed before she could even turn and try to run back out. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief. Cas knew all eyes were on her as she thanked everyone and made to start the trip home. They all thought she was crazy, this mare was a spitfire and could hurt anyone and wasn't afraid to. Cas was afraid of one thing, not being able to tame her.
One long trip later, Cas had her sister help attach the trailer to the round pen they had. Hedwig would be let out the same way she was put in, too dangerous to go near just yet. The mare's hooves sounded like thunder as she raced out of the trailer. She was tired but not spent from her long ride, in a new place entirely she wasn't ready to settle down. The girls just set out a hanger with hay for the mare and a small bucket of water for that night before she started being worked with in the morning.
411 words for the meeting.
Cinna's Arrival:
Cas had been working her hands raw with the leopard appy, Hedwig. A well-known kicker, she used a lunge whip and a rope/lasso to teach the mare that she was the leader and to only approach when Cas allowed it. Confident and dominant, Hedwig started off fighting for leadership after having the same fight for the first month they finally worked it out. Hedwig was pushy and would do her best to sneak in a move for power over the girl. Each time Cas would lightly tap the mare with the lunge whip and making her move away.
Cas was so busy with just teaching Hedwig respect that she didn't notice the mare growing noticeably bigger. She headed out for morning lunging with Hedwig when she realized how big the mare had been since she was, suddenly, not.
Then she noticed a filly with almost solid markings on her face and legs. Semi, if not fully leopard, appy filly with hazel eyes stood beside Hedwig's shoulder. She was dark like her mother but not a seal bay, she could tell from where she stood the filly was lighter than a seal, a couple close marked spots on her rump by the base of her tail showed the barest hint of a dun stripe. Dark and a dun, possibly grulla.
Cas had sat staring, in shock and wonderment when she noticed Hedwig eyeing her. The mare snorted before nickering at her and proceeded to give her filly a couple gentle licks. Probably proud of her newest creation and obviously showing her off to her human. The more Cas watched the less the two horses cared about her until Hedwig walked over, submitting herself to the follower role today and bringing her filly over to check out the two legged horse-person that was their leader.
Up close the filly's eyes were mesmerizing and the freckling of spots around her eyes and nostrils almost looked liked someone had sprinkled a bit of cinnamon there.
332 for the arrival of Cinna
