The air was dense with humidity, the rain from the previous days before having given the air a thick, almost tangible feeling to it. It was Louie's 19th birthday, though he spent it alone in a deserted field of barren earth. Summer was a time when plants flourished, the spring melting away the snow and making way for the buds of new life, but here nothing grew. Dust and long since dead grass were the only things that greeted his eye as he scanned the field.
Louie was not one to let things as they are, and thus he raised his head high and consecrated the power from his saber-like curled tail, forcing the ground to be fertile once again. A sweat began to break out onto his brow as the first shoots of grass sprung up and out of the ground, vibrant against the now dark and soft soil. He took pride in his work as he slowly released his hold on the earth bellow him. It wasn't much, but then again the strength of his powers would only grow with age. He had many years before him to learn and even more after that to use those powers.
"That was very impressive!"
Startled, Louie turned around quickly to face the sima who had spoken.
He was young, maybe less than ten years younger than him and around the age of nine or so. Still he hesitantly approached the beaming sima.
"Oh, you think so?" he said some-what sarcastically, though the sima replied with an eager nod.
"Absolutely! I can only control a little bit of water, so that was really cool."
His pride swelled.
"Cool, eh?" He muttered to himself while the sima impatiently shifted in front of him.
"Say, mister, what's your name? I'm Bracket Talbert."
The older sima looked at the youth - Bracket, as he was called - and smiled fondly.
"Name's Louie, kid."
"Louie..." Bracket murmured, testing the name on his tongue before nodding and smiling brightly.
"Alright Louie, let's be friends okay?"
Louie stared at Bracket silently for a moment before finding that his smile was infectious.
"...Yeah. Let's be friends."
// Present day //
The summer days the two spent together are long sense a memory. Summers for Louie are now spent alone, left to take care of other Sima's "problems." Well, maybe not take care of them, but leave the sima shaken at least. The job pays him well, and no one messes with Old Man Louie.
Today is his brithday.
He spends it alone.
Louie spends his summer days sleeping. He despises the summer heat and would much rather spend the days in his own thoughts than dealing with the heat. During the night he comes alive, busing himself with his clients or spending his time out in the darkness purifying the ground. He'd gotten better as using this power than the years prior, able to grow a full-sized tree in a few days instead of spending a whole month on one sapling.
When he was younger he would spend his summers with a sima named Bracket. The two would wander around their town and help out the citizens with odd things, or test each other with their magic. He always won of course, but he admired Bracket's determination.
It's hard to explain the enigma that is Louie. On the surface he is calm and collected, never satisfied no matter how hard a sima may try. He enjoys hearing about himself and encourages others to praise him every once in a while, faking modesty at times to gain more praise. Louie becomes angered easily, but he's a great actor and can hide his emotions easily under a smile. He has a weakness for mothers and small children, and will help them out whenever he can.
For Louie there are friends, and there are enemies. Nothing in between. Though he lacks quite a few friends, one he can recall clearly is Bracket.
He was the cheerful boy he had met when he was 19 years old, the two of them becoming friends soon after their meeting. Everything was easy when they were around each other but.... That changed quickly.
The grew apart, chasing after two completely different ways of life. They could no longer hold their friendship, and thus they never spoke to one another again. Hate would never exist between the two - they still had their bond which held them together in their hearts - but their lives would not be better together.
Recently he's taken up the art of sewing. It's nothing fancy, but he likes to make blankets and cloaks the most. He's even sold a few of his creations and plans on doing more of his craft in the future.
He was born 29 years ago, in a small village near the coast of an ocean. Louie grew up without knowing his father, though that didn't stop him from living life happily as a child. His mother worked quite hard to feed him, and in return he did everything in his power to make sure she was taken care of when he was older as well. Even now he take care of her by sending her parts of his own pay check to help her pay for whatever things she needs.
He met Bracket soon after he left his childhood home, the two of them finding comfort in one another for a few years before parting ways on the agreement that they would "find each other when the time is right." That time has yet to come, and Louie is doubtful it ever will.
In present day he works as a sort of "hit man", paid the threaten others and force them into submission. He does not kill, and he refuses ever offer which hints of such a deed. He may be cruel, but not enough to kill. He makes good money from this however, and lives a lavish life alone, currently.
- The notch in his ear was from sparing with Bracket.
- He has chronic back pain.
- Louie despises hot days.
- He loves to swim.
