Prompt: Weevilfleck wished for, more than anything, that he was able to make direct contact with Starclan. He had heard many stories from clan elders about ancient clans that discovered sacred grounds for communicating with the starry cats long ago. Ivyclan did not have such grounds to call their own.
Weevilfleck had good luck with interpreting signs from Starclan so far, and yet, he yearned for guidance more clear than vague signs and prophetic dreams. He was deathly afraid of getting it wrong one day and putting his clanmates in horrible danger. Weevilfleck just wanted some reassurance from the stars.
Today, he was restocking the herb stores with fresh herbs that the patrols had brought in. Sorting new ingredients, disposing of unusable ones; just a typical day in the life of a healer.
A new smell cut through the tang of herbs in his face. It alarmed him at first, but it was merely a gust of fresh air… coming from the back of the den? No, that couldn’t be right.
But as Weevilfleck investigated the scent, his suspicions were confirmed. A few loose stones had fallen from the back wall, and there was air coming from the holes in the den. He looked through the hole, but it was pitch black.
It’s the middle of the day… if this isn’t the backside of the den, then what’s back here? Weevilfleck got to work tearing down more stones, paws rubbed raw, becoming extremely sore. It took a lot of work, but he was stubborn as ever. After a short while, there was a big enough opening for a cat to squeeze through. He took a deep breath and stepped into the darkness.
The air was thick with tension; he couldn’t make any sense of his surroundings. He blindly padded forward and stepped straight into what he thought was a puddle of water. Weevilfleck gasped as the water around his paws lit up with tiny stars. As the water rippled, more stars appeared, revealing a sizeable pool with a beautiful white crystal on a small platform in the center. His eyes widened as a starry cat stepped out of the water before him. “Greetings, Weevilfleck,” they purred kindly, “We’ve been waiting for you.”
“So have I,” he bowed his head politely, paws trembling with excitement.
