access to the online world is almost as easy as breathing nowadays, and the sheer simplicity of the entrance requirements allows for most, if not all, individuals to have a taste test of this vast society with no real setbacks. you create an account, customise your little avatar (you could even make it a 3d character if you coughed up a 7 credit fee per fortnight), join some chat rooms, hook your consciousness up to your router, and you're done. how marvellous technology has become!

adonis is no stranger to the online world; if anything, one could call him an expert on the system. he knows the loopholes, the countless 'weak' spaces in the codes, and the virus that seems to be silently attacking random users. this is no mere feat, considering how widespread and incredibly harsh the security of the internet has become over the past five years - every month, there seems to be an added firewall and an added quality of life improvement that no one really asked for.

but adonis has time. he has a lot of time, actually.

it wasn't exactly recent, but the wound is still fresh in adonis' heart. he had a cushy job nestled within the tech giant, a maintenance job that relied on his ability to see. with the increase of tech-assisted living, not many people really had the skills to perform 'grunt work' (as his late boss would put it) that included using your physical strength anymore. adonis was an outlier - being raised in a sector with no internet connection, he grew up relying on his physical attributes and catching things others may have skimmed before. hence, he was given the job after a bare-bones interview with the expectation that he would make up for the lack of physical skills most others didn't have. unfortunately, doing all the grunt work came with many risks that could drastically change one's life. such was the case with adonis, who honestly thought he was safe here - oh, how naive he was.
a traumatic injury ultimately led to his current blindness, and he was laid off on the grounds of his health. really, they just had no use for a man who could not see.

thus, here he sits, able to see things within the web and interact with others as though nothing were wrong. his world was the internet, just as it was intended.
