Skadi is a figure from Norse mythology— a Jotunn goddess known for her skills in hunting, skiing, and archery, along with her beauty. She is associated with the cold, winter, and mountains, which is the primary reason why this Pokemon shares her name. It wasn't her original name given by her parents, but she picked it after coming across a children's storybook that depicted an in-universe version of her. She hoped that the name would give her confidence and drive her to become powerful and respected. She is still fairly young though, so she hasn't exactly had much time to prove her mettle in a significant way, but she is constantly on the look-out for ways to show off or gain the approval of others.
