Hot, humid air wraps around you like a blanket, heavy and suffocating as you break through the foliage, your paws met with mud and damp stone as the open shore of the river stands before you. After months of travel, you've at last reached your summer destination, spurred by rumors coming up the trade routes.

It is as breathtaking as you heard.

You take a breath, tired from the journey, and are awash in new smells, the moist fungal aroma of rotting leaves mixing with sweet notes of flowers you’ve never seen. Before you is a river the color of dark earth, the water crashing and flowing through the ruins of crumbling human structures. Some of the structures seem to have been cracked open by the roots of forest trees that have cracked off the concrete facades, the buildings reclaimed by the forest surrounding you. Birds you've never heard before call out in the canopy above, and creatures you can't name rustle in the brush as they quietly observe the new arrivals to the area. A dark shape looms in the water, and you retreat into the underbrush to avoid unwanted attention.

Out of nowhere, a cat appears, and bids you follow them. Curious, you do so; maybe you'll meet some new friends...?
