Name Meaning(s): When I was growing up, my cat unexpectedly had a litter of kittens. Since my sister was practically a baby, I got to name all of them: Scratchy, Whiskers, Snowflake, and Spike. My parents put the kittens up for adoption and when an elderly couple came over to pick one out, I grabbed two and ran and locked myself into the bedroom. The two I grabbed were Scratchy and Spike. I got to keep Scratchy and Spike became my sister's cat. Eventually when he was about 7 years old, Scratchy passed away and I became very close to Spike. I was reading books to her every day after school, feeding her cheese puffs, and bonding with her like I hadn't taken so much time to do when I had my own cat. Spike ended up living to be over 20 years old, which is quite an old age for a cat!
