how did they get their wand?:
Wands were a powerful conduit of magic for Keiro's clan - a way for new and experienced magic users alike to increase their magic output. A wand wasn't simply a stick one found laying on the ground and decided to use. Wands were mulled over carefully by their owner, each component inspected and tested thoroughly before the wand was made.

Creating wands was difficult for any level of magic user - one had to put as much magic as they could into the materials they'd chosen so that they could bond together to form an appropriate conduit for the wielder. Keiro's wand was no exception; Keiro had spent 3 days pouring his magic into the components of his wand when he first made his at 12.

Keiro had spent weeks looking for just the right wood type to use for his wand before eventually settling on a piece of coast redwood, with the crystals imbued in the handle found in a cave system he'd visited with his family a few years before. As each bit of magic was carefully poured into Keiro's wand, the pieces he chose wound together, creating a single solid object, the wood warping itself into the ideal shape for Keiro's magic to flow from.

Keiro was proud of his wand, using it for years after its creation. While most might have moved on to another wand, Keiro was happy to continue using his!

Since Annaesia is a world filled with witches and wizards, you are bound to run into at least one coven and/or guild in every town you visit. In a small seaside town next to the Kaenfion Sea (cane-fee-own), rests a coven. Coven des sorcières de la rivière et du clair de lune, or more commonly known as the Coven of River and Moonlight. Now, every once and a while kalons are placed in front of the covens door either because the parents couldn’t take care of them or the young kalon had a power that the parents couldn’t handle. The coven worked more as a school for young kalons, who had trouble mastering their magic; Syrena was one of these kalons. In the coven young kalons are given standard issue wands which help contain and control the magical abilities the kalons have. As they get older the wands would be switched out depending on how much stronger their abilities get. When the kalons reach maturity the kalons are then sent to a magic-filled wood to find a branch that calls to them. As soon as they find a branch, the kalons must then meditate until their magical abilities take a physical form. They must then begin to whittle the piece of wood, threading their magical power into the branch carefully. One wrong move and they will have to start the process over again with another branch. This process could last from three days up to two weeks, depending on both patience and luck. Once the process is over, your magic should be completely transferred into the wood of the wand. This does have its cons as kalons with wands aren’t able to use magic without it on their person. However, if the wand ever breaks, the kalons magic will merge back into their body, allowing them to use magic at any time. Though when this happens the magic is usually extremely unstable and dangerous for the kalon and everyone around them. Now when it was Syrena’s turn to make her own wand she had spent three days trying to find a branch that called out to her. Once she found a beautiful Larch branch she then spent the next four days meditating and weaving her magic into the wood as she carved. When she was finally done, Syrena had a beautiful creamy white wand with intricate markings burned into its surface caused by the power of her magic. When Syrena gripped the completed wand, the markings seemed to glow as if her magic could explode out of it at any time. This was a powerful wand and Syrena knew, as she heard the wand whisper to her, that she would become one of the most powerful witches Annaesia has ever seen.
