Name: Selene
Prompt:
She looks up, her breath held. This fight above has been growing more violent. How long does this world have left? Streaks of crimson and gold shoot across like fireworks, reflecting the immortal power behind them. Impossible to know which side was winning, as the power made the ground around her shake and the very stars in the sky blink out forever one by one. Most everyone else has run for cover, had tried to escape. Not her. She felt that something of this magnitude need an observer, someone who would see this to its end. Why not her? Nobody else was around to do it.
The once soft blue scars were marred with scars, the clouds dark and impossible to see through. It had started to rain, although the rain was not water. It started to stain her coat, but still she kept her gaze to the skies and watched. The immortals collided once, twice, three times. She could not make out their forms, could only see the hues they produced off of their coats. Four times... and then a pause as she found everything stopped. She realized they were looking back at her. She gave a simple nod. She had made her choice, fight on. And so they did, and Celeste watched as more stars started to fall or blink out of existence. It was not okay, it was not fine. But she had no regrets.
Maybe in her next life. she could remember and tell the story of this world. Maybe she would get lucky and be spared. Or maybe the fight would end and the gods would leave something behind to rebuild.
