Huh. This one looked different.

It reminded him of fire, as he picked it out from the pile of leaf litter. Sure, it was worn but it was in oddly good shape. It was still vibrant even when the others started to brown. The leaves he normally collected were by the pile, disinfected, and then tossed in for his isopods to scavenge. This leaf was better as decoration if he was being honest.

Perhaps this leaf might make for some nice decoration outside the isopod tank. After all, Phoenix had gotten enough other leaves that the isopods might enjoy more.

leaf; An enthusiastic tree-surgeon, Caedon knows a thing or two about trees. He practically eats, sleeps, and breathes all things trees. So when he sees a cool leaf, you know he’s bound to take it home! His favorite leaf? The ginkgo biloba! Not only are they endangered in the wild but they’re the last of their order, which has been around long before the Triassic Period! This makes them extra special to Caede! He likes to imagine that he’s experiencing a prehistoric fall amongst the dinosaurs when he’s walking through the grove by himself. Their fan-like graceful shape and the way they catch the light in such a beautiful way just entrances Caedon. He could sit under them for hours, watching them tumble down from the trees one by one in the chilly autumn wind. Okay, so maybe it’s not the most autumnal leaf out there, but they do turn from green to yellow in Fall and it sure is cool! He has a few ginkgo trees at his cottage and he loves to collect and press their beautiful leaves!

leaf; It was a terribly worn thing, filled with small holes and brittle. A lattice of veins, and barely hanging on brown and orange material. But it had seen things! Holding it, she closed her eyes and saw those who had encountered this leaf before, when it was still green and new. And when she held it up to the light? Through the holes shined down a constellation of light. It was perfect.
