moon's favorite part about being in her tribe is that they respect her despite her disability. since she was born and it was realized that she was deaf, her mother was skeptical about whether or not she was eligible to be a beta, especially since she had a chance of becoming an alpha and holding intense power over the tribe and a huge connection to their spiritual ancestors. moon knows that her mother's decision to keep her as a beta was solely because bird was too egotistical to admit she had birthed a deaf daughter, and now she spends her time proving that it wasn't a bad decision. her tribemates believing in her and her abilities, although few haven't met her, keeps her motivated to keep her title as beta, and she thanks the stars for her supportive tribemates every night.

The first time they met, well.. it was a little bit of a disaster. Blizzardtuft blinked as Pigeonstar mouthed words he could not hear. He knew how to read some words, but this was.. a bit much.

The younger she-cat seemed confused by this, looking at him for a few heartbeats. Her mouth moved more, and he simply watched with a puzzled expression. Pigeonstar's attempts being in vain seemed to be something that she caught on to eventually, if her widening eyes and metaphorical lightbulb meant anything. Her maw moved again and he could understand that she had said something about deaf.

Before he could deflate too much about it, his ears perked forwards as she moved, gesturing him to follow with her head. Okay, so she was still trying. Neat. Blizzardtuft pushed to his paws and followed the colorpoint she.

The two would shortly arrive to her clan, Fernclan. The first cat to greet him was the ever excitable Littlepaw, beaming up at him with a bright grin and mouthing once more. Blizzardtuft watched curiously as Pigeonstar nudged her gently and mouthed. That oh-so-familiar word appearing again. Their exchange was brief, though Littlepaw seemed to be looking back and forth between the two a lot.

She seemed far more unsure this time around when greeting him, seeming to look back at Pigeonstar and another cat that had approached. Littlepaw held her tail high with a slight curve at the end, smiling at him a bit softer this time. It was natural body language. Blizzardtuft gave a brief, greeting nod and returned the smile; causing the apprentice to beam again, and it seemed like she was feeling a lot more confident now too.

Blizzardtuft watched her bound over to a brown-and-white molly, bouncing on her paws. His gaze shifted onto Pigeonstar when she tried to gesture again, a bit clumsy but the white tom appreciated her attempts to communicate his way. He'd push to his paws and follow her, eventually ending with an attempted tour around the camp. It was alright, with dense foliage and comfortable looking dens.

As time went on and he stayed, the cats around him seemed to try and accommodate him. They still talked amongst themselves, of course. But whenever he was involved or part of the equation, often times they attempted to talk more through body language, with tail gestures and ear movements. They never talked about his deafness anymore, either. It made him feel a bit more welcomed.

None of them treated him like he was different, none of them had shunned him as others in the past once had. They understood his disability, and they did their best to make things better for him.

Blizzardtuft soon found that them trying to make him more comfortable with them meant far more than he could ever imagine. He didn't know he'd feel this happy around other cats. Smiling and gesturing with them during early mornings, going on hunts and protecting his clan. Pride thrummed through his chest as his clanmates would brush their tails against his side or nudge under his chin after he'd helped them track their prey down. He wasn't tied down to staying at the camp and working with herbs for the rest of his life.

He was their equal, their clanmate. He wasn't treated like he was fragile because he was deaf.

Blizzardtuft was a proud warrior, and he lit up every time he remembered it.

Waterquiver, despite being deaf, loves seeing his clanmates happy. Words aren't enough to express the beauty of their expressions. Waterquiver is a deputy candidate for his thoughtful thinking, wonderful solutions, and best of all, exquisite personality. There's a lot a about LakeClan that Zvezda likes; he likes the idea of a group of largely unrelated cats acting as family, he likes how Dinara and Damir listen to suggestions from the rest of the clan, and he likes how accepting the clan itself is.

Selfishly, though, his favorite thing about being in LakeClan is that he lives outside. He and Willow lived with the same Twoleg before joining LakeClan, and while he does appreciate them for raising him, he loathes them for not allowing him the same freedom Willow had. He could sit under the window and feel the sun's diluted heat, see the wind rustle the leaves, but always so separated from the real world. Being in LakeClan is being alive; it's climbing a tree until the limb sways beneath his paws and feeling the wind in his face, it's racing into the lake despite its biting waters, it's the thrill of exploration, of being himself. It's not all great - the winters are harsh and cruel, and he dislikes having to sleep in a dark tunnel during the colder moons, but even as the chill bites his ears and hunger gnaws at his stomach, he's grateful to have made himself a clan cat.

Prompt: As a Scout, it is Cloudberry's job to patrol the island, alerting the clan to the locations of things like dangerous predators, useful herbs, places where prey is plentiful... but their favorite part about this is that it allows them to chill out in different spots across the island. Not that they're a slacker by any means, but the island is so peaceful and beautiful... As long as they don't find anything absolutely dire to report (such as scenting or seeing predators too close to the camp), they like to chill and relax after their daily duties, usually somewhere overlooking the sea. Their favorite spot is near the peak of the island's long dormant volcano; throughout most of the year, there's at least a light dusting of snow around, which means they blend in very well. Combined with being unable to hear their clanmates calling for them, it means that it's very easy for them to escape notice, and chill for a while.

Silent's favorite thing about this tribe is that they were able to formulate a way to communicate with her as opposed to disregarding her disability. The tribe has taken a pattern of paw taps, tail shakes, and eye movements to communicate with Silent and she is able to use this method to respond as well. Though she is deaf, Silent is a very imaginative feline and will also sometimes communicate by drawing pictures into the soft earth. Her favorite thing is being able to be heard even through her deafness.

Prompt: cloud finds it hard to pick just one favourite thing about being a part of his tribe, but there are a few things that he loves. first of all, the warm sunstones in his territory on which he can lay on when it's sunny to enjoy the weather. then there is his tribe as an eternity, the community of cats that love and care about one another and never leaves anyone behind. as a kit, cloud has had troubles getting along in this world because he was born deaf, but he has gotten lots of support and love from his fellow tribe members and has never felt unwelcome or heavily different because of his disability. he was never judged or told he was useless, quite the difference occured when he was made deputy. the promotion followed after their leader recognising and appreciating cloud's ability to solve problems quickly, never lose his head and remain calm in every yet so stressful situation. not once has any cat told him that he was incapable of holding such position because he was deaf, they all trust him and don't treat him any differently than any other deputy that was before him. cloud loves this unconditional trust and cohesion within his tribe and that nobody is ever judged for being the cat they are.
