What are umikuris?
Umikuris (umi from the japanese word for sea and kuri from the first half of kuriōne) are a sea slug/human hybrid race living all across the world! They’re amphibious so they can survive on both land and sea, and come from many different walks of life!
They all feature some sort of glass limb system, and these liquid-filled limbs can be filled with liquids of all colours and forms! This phenomenon is still being researched, but the sheer variety of what can be found within these limbs and other traits means every umikuri is unique!
Recently they’ve decided to make contact with humans, so why don’t you take a dive and meet some of them yourself? Maybe one’ll take a liking to you!
General Specs
>Can range in size, however the average range is between 4-8ft
⮡ anything majorly above this range counts as a legendary above size trait
>Can breathe water and air so they can live on land or stay in the sea! Some choose to only stay in one biome but most of them maintain a balance of both land and sea
>Umikuris can easily speak human language, but also have their own separate way of communication! Underwater they can chirp and make other assorted noises to convey messages, and like human language there can be variations depending on where they’re from, like dialects!
>The ‘glass’ of each umikuri seems to be naturally formed; research on younger umikuris has determined it starts out almost malleable and squishy, and hardens over time. How the fluids inside each umikuri come to be is still being researched
> Umikuri 'hair' is just like their inside fillings !! Umikuri hair is often the same liquid as the stuff inside their limbs (although sometimes thats not the case) and they can somehow style it just like normal human hair.
>Umikuris are a lot like humans; some prefer to live in large groups akin to dolphin pods, and some live solitary lives or within very small groups.
>The mantle-like fins on the umikuris body are supposed to aid in swimming, but also act as visual identifiers in a pinch!
>Skin isn’t slimy, but somewhat slippery and cool to the touch. They’re also ectothermic!
