fact:
The ostrich's eyes are about the size of billiard balls. They take up so much room in the skull that the ostrich's brain is actually smaller than either one of its eyeballs. This may be why the ostrich, despite its tremendous running speed, is not very good at eluding predators: It tends to run in circles.

fact:

when a bee changes a job - they have to change their whole brain chemistry!
"Bees are hardwired to do certain jobs. Scout bees, which search for new sources of food, are wired for adventure. Soldier bees, discovered in 2012, work as security guards their whole life. One percent of all middle-aged bees become undertakers—a genetic brain pattern compels them to remove dead bees from the hive. But most amazingly, regular honeybees—which perform multiple jobs in their lifetime—will change their brain chemistry before taking up a new gig."

fact:
Red foxes use Earth’s magnetic field to jump on prey. The researchers say their findings suggest the successful attacks were enhanced by magnetic alignment, and Burda said their favorite hypothesis is that the fox uses information on the Earth’s magnetic field as a range finder. Burda said the fox could sense the magnetic northerly direction as a patch of dark or light. In the northern hemisphere the magnetic field tilts downwards below the horizontal at an angle of 60-70°, so the fox edges forward in search of the point at which the angle of the sound from the prey meets the slope of the magnetic field. At that point the prey is a fixed jump distance away.

fact:
some cows press their noses against objects in order to release endorphins- for those who don't know they are a hormone in humans and animals that are stored in the pituitary gland. When you exercise, your body releases this chemical. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, this is a comfort thing for cattle- consider it like a horse cribbing... (with the exception of the damage to teeth of course). So closer to the equivalent of sitting back in the chair with a nice drink and an after-dinner mint.

fact: IN THE UK, THE BRITISH MONARCH LEGALLY OWNS ALL UNMARKED MUTE SWANS IN OPEN WATER.
https://www.townandcountrymag.com/socie ... eth-swans/The royal family's website notes that the British crown has "held the right to claim ownership" of these animals for since the 12th century, and traditionally, "valuable rights of ownership were subsequently granted by the monarch to many people and organisations as swans were a prized food, served at banquets and feasts."
I vibe with this kalon so much omg-
