Raven had always been fond of blue- soothed by it. As a prickly young cat, it had been the sight of a clear blue sky or a peacefully burbling stream (or the patient eyes of his only friend) that had helped to calm him.

Even after he left his home, simmering with anger, the sight of the blue sky above him and blue-gray mountains before him had served to quell his emotions- if only slightly.

Now, situated in the Court, he maintains a fondness for blue things... a vase full of stray blue feathers, a blue-jeweled clasp or sweeping blue cloak- the other courtiers comment on the clear preference the reclusive noble shows.

Even as an adult, he finds, blue still calms him- though now it is more bittersweet, both soothing his bitter heart and calling back memories of a simpler time- one he turned his back on, long ago.

It hurts to recall, but... he still finds himself drawn to blue. Not quite willing to let the memories go.

As fragile as the shade may seem,
The palest of grays hold the secret,
Of making his heart glow and gleam.
Only he knows why the color matters
But that's all he really needs,
Lest he let his mind fall to tatters.
A long time ago, when he was a kit
He was playing in a garden,
When a fire was lit.
He scrambled and ran,
And tried to help them to run,
But it was no use,
They burned in the sun.
He stumbled about,
Quite dazed and confused,
When he came across a spider,
Sporting monochrome hues.
The spider, whom he considered a friend,
Led him out of the forest,
And into a glen.
The spider, bless their soul,
Was, unfortunately,
Getting quite old.
They knew that their time,
Would end very soon,
And they made their friend,
An odd-shaped rune.
This rune of theirs,
Kept Spiderfur safe.
From any sort of danger,
Since they cared for the waif.
Since the night of their passing,
Spiderfur has loved grays.
It will remind him of happiness,
On the darkest of days.

Rain looked gently down at her two newborn kits. She smiled gently, blue eyes looking down at her sons. It was late Goldenleaf, but the midday sun was still high in the clear, blue sky.
"My little birds," Rain murmured softly, "Raven and Magpie." She smiled, tightly curling around her kits.

The cool, blue glow of the Moonlight River lit up Magpie's face as he is promoted to a Tenderfoot and given the mentor The Stag's Fang - he was to become a Hunter. Stag's white fur appeared a gentle blue in the reflected light as he smiled at his new Tenderfoot, stepping into the slowly flowing waters with Magpie.
"I swear to teach you all that I know." Stag announced, grazing his tongue over Magpie's head as per the tradition.

Magpie sat anxiously high in a pine tree awaiting his brother's return from The River's End. Once the smaller tom appeared in tue distance, Magpie leapt from the tree and ran to greet Raven.
"I brought this for you." Raven said softly, and the newly anointed Divine dropped a small, pale blue pebble before Magpie.
Magpie looked lovingly at his brother, picked up the pebble and Raven began to tell him everything as they returned to camp.

The warning moonlight cast an eerie white glow into the Herbalist's den, lighting up Rain's fading blue eyes. They were deep into FrostGrowth, and Frostfever had taken a hold of Rain, leaving her sickly and weak. Her two sons looked on in horror as the life slowly disappeared from her blue eyes.
"She may be gone from our world, but she will never leave us." Raven assured his brother softly.

When Greenleaf arrived, Magpie travelled to his mother's grave in their burial site and looked in awe at the beautiful blue poppies that had sprouted around the blue-grey slate that had been placed as a marker for the grave. He smiled gently, lay down, pressed his nose to the stone, and closed his eyes. As he did, the transparent blue figure of his mother's spirit filled his mind.
"My beautiful, strong bird, you know I am here for you, always." She assured him.

There are few things that Magpie finds so greatly precious, but the colour blue holds so much importance to him, and only he and Raven truly understand why.

If asked about his favourite colour he would say black, like the void of his empty soul. After he lost his family his world turned dark. All the hopes and plans crumbled into dust. Mistakes impossible to fix, time he cannot turn back. All that’s left is irrational anger at the world for being happy when he's not.

And yet, he keeps moving on. He is secretly envious of optimists. He would never admit it openly, but his favourite colour is pink. Pink, like round spectacles that allow you to see the world as beautiful again. He hopes to one day see what it’s like and that hope keeps pushing him forward.

Mimi didn't consider themself someone to caught up in small interests, but like any cat, they were still prone to favoring some things over others. Colors were no different.

Mimi was the kind of cat that tended towards more neutral, muted colors. They liked to blend into their surroundings.

However, there was something in camp that challenged their typical likes. All the cars in that the cats made their dens in were pretty dirty and rusted over, making them more muted in their surroundings. At Mimi's den there was a single hubcap, regularly cleaned and polished until it sparkled like a diamond.

The hubcap was such a bright, lovely silver, that Mimi could see their own reflection in it. The shade of silver was absolutely captivating to Mimi and they enjoyed looking at it so much, that they named their own son, Chrome, after the shade.

congrats! I had to get help deciding on this one, so I recruited Firedancer77 and we both agreed on this one!! ( see here ) The character development especially stood out. I look forward to seeing where you go with Raven!
