The little cat stared at the plate on the counter with wide eyes.
The smell of what was on it made the fur on his back stand from the excitement. It was like smelling ambrosia to him; sweet and heavenly.
But he knew he had to wait to successfully snatch one.

"Honey! The pancakes are almost done!" he heard his owner, Sweetie (or Mam as the little human called her) call out to his other owner. As he continued to concentrate on the plate, Patty heard the little human run down the stairs. Just a little longer, he thought.

When she reached the counter, Patty saw Sweetie’s attention turn to the little human and he took the opportunity: jumping up on the side of the counter, he grabbed the edge of a pancake and swiftly pulled the dessert off the plate and ran.
Sure, he heard Sweetie’s grumbling and the little human’s giggles, but he didn’t even look back. He just ran back to his bed in the living room and happily started munching on his newest, tastiest catch.
