To gain some interest I have decided to make our first Kirin! In adventure, Kirin and Unicorn Welara can use magic. Creating Interdimensional Portals and using defensive magic naturally. If you wish to use offensive magic you will need to get specific items for your Welara to learn from

Kirin Welara are the ONLY Welara able to cast offensive magic, as Unicorns are typically pure of heart and do not wish damage onto others. Unicorn Welara are the ONLY Welara to be able to transfer between planets, as Kirin have no interest in Earth.
For this lass or lad, explain why Kirin are so rare, many considering them myths in the Welara species. If you win this Welara, your story will be made into Official lore for Welara. There is no min or max for this comp, and it will run until I find the perfect story.

Comp Here:
“You’ve never seen a Kirin before!”
The stories all start the same, and for good reason; Kirin are more legend than even the Unicorns.
Theories abound, but one tale of a scholar and a knight of old rings truer in most ears.
The scholar had heard rumors of odd horned steeds, not quite unicorn either odd smatterings of scale and thick tufts of fur at its ankles. The whispers said the horn was more like wood, branching and not a sheen to it. Needless to say, the scholar hired his knight companion and both took off to seek out such a creature!
But they could find no trace of it. Not a hair, a stray scale, a hood print to follow... they searched for days, weeks, soon their search ending with no news after four years.
In those four years the scholar had been studying other matters, his wisdom known by his countrymen far and wide; the hired knight-turned-friend accompanied the unnamed scholar on many occasion. Always they sought the mythical Kirin, but when whispers rose they found not a trace..
Until the scholar fell ill, his age catching up to claim him. As he lay in his bedroll one dawning morning, having begged his friend to take him for one more search, his eyes opened wide beneath bushy, grey brows. He inhaled reverently at the sight before him, magnificent and all he had ever imagined; his friend awoke, and both paid their respects to what stood before them.
The Kirin, small of stature but no less proud, watched the scholar quietly. And then in stride forward, legs slender and long, to lower itself next to the dying man. “A wise man seeks comfort, and so it shall be given.”
The stories muddle where the words came from, but accounts from the knight say the words bloomed in their minds, unbidden and not their own thoughts but from the Kirin. What is known is that the scholar, wise indeed, passed through the veil of his god that same morning, and just as suddenly the Kirin vanished with him.
