The pride looks forward to autumn because toward the end of autumn is a time when the pride tries to make sure they have everything they need before winter. Everyone joins in in trying to prepare for the upcoming season, gathering different supplies to be used for bedding, healing, decoration, and ceremonies.
The reason they choose this season is because over the winter they like to try to devote more time to celebrations or ceremonies if possible.
So, autumn is a working season. Of course, some things they can't gather and store because they might wither or grow old over time so it is important for anyone participating to know what to find and what to leave alone.
If anyone finds decorative pieces, feathers, stones, shells, or anything of the kind that especially pleases the king or other high ranking members of the pride they might be given a reward of some sort. Beautiful things are highly values and some lions are happy to trade them in for something more practical like bedding if they find them.

For the healers they use this time to recruit the help of the other lions to build up their herb stock somewhat right before the start of winter.

While all this work might not seem like something to look forward to the pride is happy to do it and have it done so they can move on to the celebrations and ceremonies of winter.

Even though spring comes with the promise of new life, and summer holds the warmth in the days, autumn is by far the favourite season of the Flame Valley pride! Earning its name from the autumn sunlight, the valley lights up during the cooling of the weather, with low, warm sunshine reflecting off the red and orange trees to create one of the best views in the area. If a lion stood on the top of the mountain and looked down, they might think the valley was on fire.
However, it is not the beauty of the nature around them that pleases the pride. The cooler weather means that the rivers begin to freeze at their sources, significantly lessening them while also making them flow more slowly. While, at first glance, that may seem like an awful situation, this actually means that they are a lot safer for the pride to drink from, and, more importantly, swim in! The cool waters may not be too inviting at first, but accompanied with the bounty of prey suddenly finding themselves unsheltered in the flat lands of the valley’s open center, it becomes almost a ritual for the pride to get together at the calming of the waters! The whole pride gathers at the edge of the river, and celebrate the upcoming prey influx with a playful, fun and relaxing swim! The cubs play games, the hunters race each other, the guards wrestle to get one another beneath the surface, the elders relax in the shallows. It’s a fun time for the whole pride, and each and every member spends their year looking forward to the next one!
