jelani is awoken every day at 4:00 a.m. with a startling zap to her fingertips. jostling awake, she leaps out of bed and hurriedly throws on a fitting pair of clothes for the day ahead of her. jelani ignores breakfast, for the simple fact that by the time she's already done slipping on her second shoe she's close to being late. jelani can't afford to be late - so she rushes out of her small closet-like apartment to be met with the bustling scene of the outside world. the vibrant color of blue emitting from the large skyscrapers & flying pods fills her vision. she only has a couple of seconds to take in this wonderful view, and then she is on her way. jelani practically sprints to work everyday, although she's sure it wouldn't make much of a difference if she didn't show up. she walks inside the dark, looming tower and checks in. stepping into the small, metal elevator she presses the number 105 and almost instantly arrives at her office. the irritating sound of clacking from all of the keyboards can be heard the moment she steps out - and she joins in with the chorus of typing a few moments later as she sits down at her small cubicle. this continues for 18 hours, non-stop typing and writing documents containing topics she nor anyone else cares for. as it finally reaches somewhere around 11:00 p.m., jelani drowsily walks back to her apartment. she steps inside her favorite place to eat, a small pizza place with very few customers due to the lack of quality, but she enjoys the stale food and hungrily scarfs down an entire pizza. after leaving, jelani usually either wanders around her apartment complex and watches the wealthier class people from across the street take their time chatting and eating their unbearably small portions of food, or she goes straight to sleep. most of the time she is dead tired and decides to do the latter, though. jelani passes out on her small bed, and awaits the repeating cycle of sleep - work - eat - sleep again.
