Prompt - He felt the sensation only as an echo, a dull throb instead of a sharp pierce, only a remnant of what it would have been, perhaps, forever ago. Despite the dullness of the ache, Dice collapsed onto the ground, his body defying his efforts to stand as his legs gave out, snapping under the intangible pressure of what might've been called guilt. On the floor of the alleyway, his golden orange eyes struggled to discern shapes from one another as they intermingled, swimming together, their colors and physical shapes blurring like an unfocused camera had taken a hasty photograph. He extended a hand, his frail fingers trembling, but he didn't know what he was reaching for in the first place, so quickly he dropped it and felt instead the cold rain that pooled between his fingertips. But was it raining? He wasn't sure. Dice let his eyelids droop as he slipped into unconsciousness.

They stared at their prey's back, the body slumped inelegantly into a puddle created by the bitter cold rain which refused to stop pouring down. They scoffed, viewing the knife that they had lodged firmly into Dice's back. It was only fitting that someone of his caliber received this sort of treatment, they were sure, because it had been one too many times that Dice had done this to others. Was it tragic, to see him splayed out here, clinging on to life? Not particularly, they decided. It was karma and it was just.

Then, they left.

The last words Roki ever said to her.
Spoken in anger. Yet they say, the truth comes out in a moment of anger. Rakiana considers this, and decides it's the truth. After all, who really cares about her now? Certainly not Roki, her dearly departed friend. Not her family, who she hasn't seen in ages. So who does that leave? I'll tell you, no one. Rakiana drags herself from depressing memories, forcing herself back into the present. That moment when she really could have used someone to care about her. But no one was there; they were all gone. And so she continues on her own, hoping that she'll be enough to do what must be done. To end this war.
She slips into the building, silent and unnoticed as her shadow, Doric, which is housed in her sleeve, out of sight. She advances up the stairs, trepidation slowing her every step. Finally, she reaches her destination, drawing Doric in preparation. Suddenly, the door in front of her swings open, releasing an indignant child. As the child cries out, Rakiana knows that all her family has worked for is over. If only she hadn't hesitated outside...
