"Dear, Vicir.

I love you. I'm not going to say it in any other way. You're so beautiful and naive, and I've seen the way your eyes bolt around the lecture hall after lessons. To think you'd see someone staring at you like that...it's adorable! I've been keeping tabs on you ever since we had our first class together back in middle school. You were so pure back then, and I wish I could have been the one to show your what love feels like for the first time. But you would never fall for me, You'd always fall for those secluded studious types. They could never show you what love really is! Only I can show you that!

I already have everything planned for us, darling. After you read this letter, you'll look up and see your handsome prince staring into your beautiful eyes. You'll panic, of course you will, you don't even know me, but then I'll take you away to my home- whether you agree or not to it at first, I'm not sure yet. Oh, and in the spring of 2050, we'll have our wedding! You'll wear a nice fancy suit that matches the color of your shining eyes, and I'll wear a dress with all the colors of the rainbow!

It was the second of February. Her breath white, with mist in the morning air.
Valence entered her school, buried under the warm winter jacket.
A single paper crane sat on her desk,
lined with white silk and blue glaze as well as a neatly cut out letter.

It was beautiful.

Carefully placing it into her bag, she hanged it with string and tape onto her ceiling.
The next day, another crane was placed. With yellow swirls over a white background and shimmery pink glitter.

This one was blank. She hung it next to the first.

Again the next day, a colorful crane sat. It had an L.

And again each day, a new crane was placed on her ceiling.
Each after the next.
Each with prettier paper than the last.
She was filled in awe. The last letter was a U. She hanged it up. She looked at the cranes.
She looked at each letter
And every letter contributed to the obvious.

The next day Valence found a single rose.
She potted it on her desk.
The next she found a black card. Ink in white. On the first page there were Cranes on the top and bottom of the card.
On the cranes, It spelled
I love you

Inside
She saw
A letter. Many letters. written ones

Ones that spelled out
A name.
And more letters that said
Will you be my valence-tine?

And on the 14th, someone held chocolates and sat on her desk
The someone held a card.
And read.

"I love you

Will you be my valentine?"
