The icy breath of mountain air blew harshly straight into her face. She stood there frozen still upon the mountainside. Her AK-47 nearly dropping out of her hand... A droplet of warmth broke the cold as it rolled down her cheek. She was staring in front of her looking at an empty abyss of what was once a lively, small village. She shut her eyes slowly and with a silent sigh, let out a small cloud, swirling softly before dissapearing. A big hand grasped her shoulder and gestured to move along.
"What's gone is gone. I'm afraid it can't come back"

day 626.

the monotone thudding of an old engine filled the small, crowded cabin. She grasped tightly onto her machine gun and stood still. The cabin was filled with guns, just like hers, and their owners. Sharp, cold commands filled the air one at a time, following gushes of wind matching their description. She took breath after breath... breath... after breath... Silence.

she opened her eyes. she felt the uncomfortable warmth of a cozy indoor fire.
"Mission 178 starting today... See you down in 20 minutes."

Various gun parts lay scattered across the old wooden table, the smell of solvent hanging in the dimly lit room. A slender white hand ran a cloth lovingly across the stock, pausing only as its owner looked up at the sound of a door shutting. Ellie padded into view, black boots held in one hand while the other one held polish and a brush.

"Mo" was the simple greeting as the younger panda took a seat in the empty chair, the two pandas sat in silence for some time each absorbed in her own task. Until Mokoto spoke up, breaking the quiet air with a softness only reserved for her sister.

"Ellie, tell me something. Are you still upset with me for missing the last competition? I've told you again and again that I'm sorry, I know you understand why I missed it but I can almost feel that you're still upset" the woman directed gently at her sister.

The younger panda sighed heavily and put the boot and polish covered brush then looked up at her sister.

"Mokoto I understand, I really do but for gods sake. This is the third one in a row that you've missed! I understand that the Major needs you but I need you as well! You're all I have left!" Ellie regained her composure as fast she'd lost it and stared down at her boots. "I can't lose you" she whispered brokenly, Mokoto stared pale brown eyes wide. The elder panda hadn't seen this side of her sister for a long time.

"God Elle Bell, you should have said something sooner" the pale woman almost whispered and moved around the table in order to loop her arms around her sister in a tight hug. The younger panda trembled and returned her sisters embrace, burying her head in the womans stomach. "If I don't make it to the next competition, I promise you can kick my ass the second I come home" Mo half laughed into her sisters mop of ginger hair. "Either way I want you to know that I'm proud of how much of a badass gymnast you are, I always have someone record your performances. So I can watch them just in case I don't get to see them live in person" she told her sister with a smile.

"And I'm proud that I have someone who as a wicked a shot as you for a sister Mo, I bet you kicked ass that day" Ellie breathed and rubbed her cheek against her sisters warm body. The two stayed in the embrace for a few minutes more before returning to cleaning and polishing. Ellie lending her sister a hand with the process of gun cleaning once her boots were suitably polished.

With a smile on the two black and white faces, the gun was put back together just as the sun sank behind the hills. Mokoto hoisted the gun peering through the scope and testing the weight in order to make sure everything as in its place.
