So on the last adopt I mentioned I'd explain a little as to why I'm doing several sheltie 'cets. I'm going to condense this because the full explanation is very long. Basically, my dog (a Shetland sheepdog of just under 5 years old) got injured last Saturday night/Sunday morning. We weren't certain what had happened other than when we found her, she couldn't use her hindlegs. She could only drag them. We took her to the vet on Monday and after some x-rays and everything, they determined that she had ruptured a disc in her back (herniated disc). So she's got antibiotics and steroids to help her, and we're hopeful overtime she'll be fine again. However, I want to do a few dA adopts to hopefully fund her next vet visit this coming week. But I also wanted to ensure there were other sheltie adopts for those of your who don't have a dA and wouldn't be able to take part in that.

So here's my second sheltie adopt. This one is based on a standard Sheltie color the Sable. This is a lighter sable, basically where the darker fur that usually goes along their backs isn't as prominent. c:

xxx I don't normally write, but something about her compelled me to mark this moment down. The streets were void of customers, shops were closed and refused to let anyone in. A few neon lights flashing sales lit the streets, but other than that it was completely dark. I wasn't used to city living and after spending the entirety of my hectic life in villages made of wood, I never expected to find something beautiful in such a corporate and cold place. Everything was void of emotion, even she looked a bit solemn, but as soon as the clouds cried down buckets of rain, that fluffy sable viscet was supporting enough emotion to light the entire city.

xxx Her colors of cocoa, french vanilla and powder white went so perfectly with the coffee shop she owned. I spotted her as she was closing up. With an apron around her frame, the viscet I learned to be named Lassie was humming a tune under her breath. I don't know why I started a conversation with her, it was something I've never done before. Yet, as I tried to walk away that cloudy evening, something told me I'd regret not taking a chance. When we finally spoke, my voice low and sentences littered with unnecessary pauses, I noticed that she was full of energy. Her sadness, noticeable, was shrouded by some sudden and interrupting joy. Lassie's average daily emotions were replaced by joy for the rain.

xxx Spring. It was her favorite season. I should have guessed considering her shop windows were ornamented with blossoms of blue and gold. After that, the conversation seemed to of dwindled to nothing but a tiny flame that the droplets of rain were putting out. My heart throbbed as I felt the conversation would soon end, but the equally as shy viscet did something out of the ordinary. She kept the conversation going. "Would you dance with me?" she had said hurriedly when I prepared to leave.

xxx The question shocked me, making my eyes widen and mouth agape. "Dance?"

xxx Lassie had smiled so beautifully before turning to her shop to snatch a sign. Hastily, she flipped it over and scribbled the words "Please splash us!" and held it up. "You don't seem to want to leave. So stay and dance with me as cars gift us with uplifted puddles."

xxx In the end, I stayed and that marked the beginning.

Chester and Spring

One of Chester's favorite hobbies is running. He would run all day, if he could. While other responsibilities and necessities make that impossible, Chester always makes the best of the time he does have to run. He loves the sensation of the wind in his mane as he dashes about, taking in the gorgeous sights and clean air. Of course, winter makes running difficult, and the snow often forces him to stay indoors more than he would like. Those chilly months are torturous for poor Chester, but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Chester's light is spring. As soon as the snow melts and warm breezes return to his homeland, he is filled with an indescribable urge to run until he drops. After struggling to get outside for so many months, the relief he feels is almost better than actually running.
Those are his favorite days, splashing through puddles, whizzing through the crisp morning air, and surrounded by technicolor fields of flowers. Spring makes everything come back to life, and Chester can think of no better time to be at one with himself and his surroundings. The brilliant new flowers and melodious songs of birds returning to their summer homes are but symbols of Chester's own pounding heart as he rushes past it all with the power of his own paws.
