Kalons-- a species with soft manes and even softer hearts.
Monitored in forests across the globe for years, these animals
have recently been declared naturally tame as well as sapient.
Scientists are asking the general population to consider adopting
Kalons for further study in their capabilities of intelligence.

Their shining tails are used for identification and showing off,
which is helpful when spotting another Kalon from afar. This
association with other Kalons is why they are head-over-heels
for any shiny or colorful item that they come across!

"Mercucio? Can you fill in the rest of the periodic table for the class?"
"No, Sir. I cannot!"

Mercucio is not smart. Let's get that clear. He probably doesn't even know what 2+2 is. Let alone 1+1, but He seems to know one thing really well. And that's every single specification of the element Mercury. For some reason, he just seems to click with that element in a way that the rest of the knowledge he's ever had thrown at him just doesn't connect to. Can he read? Only any word in a book or article about Mercury, anything else and you're out of luck pal. Can he do math? Only involving the numbers found in Mercury's placement on the periodic table as well as it's components, or else he hasn't got a clue. Can he do science? Only anything involving Mercury, if Mercury isn't involved somewhere then too bad buddy he's not going to be able to figure that out. A lot of people think he's smart because he knows a lot about Mercury, which just is not correct. Mercury seems to be the only thing this guy knows, heck he doesn't even know his own name at all.

"I am a Mercury man in a non-mercury land. I think."

Mercucio likes the element, because it has gotten him through his schooling so far. Sure, he's been barely passing any of his classes, barely running out with a somewhat passing grade of a low D, and if he's lucky, a low C. He's not smart, and he knows it, but he knows one thing he can nail every time. And one thing he can always count on to make him seem like an average member of the world with a normal amount of smarts. Mercury, his only favorite element.

He probably would not admit his extreme fascination with ballons.

Plus the Kalons students he teaches actually pay attention when he talks about helium,

Essential to all life,
It is everywhere,it is everyone.
It can create diamonds,pencils,fuels...Life?
believes that all of life's mysteries could be answered by Carbon
stays up late at night connecting red string to pegs on his walls, offen causing dark circles under his eyes, and excessive caffeine consumstion.
desires to know the inner workings or Carbon,time,and the universe,
cannot stand for something to be imperfect or unclear,will spend hours on a small insignificant thing just to perfect a tiny flaw.
believes carbon to be perfect
Offen wearing a dress shirt and tie, he attempts to teach teenage kalons advanced biology,Chemistry,and physics.
He wants them to share his passion but Due to his overly critical and cold view of other kalons he tends to get frustrated,especially when he doesn't understand trends,lazyness, or homosexuality.
Offen misunderstands others and will factually correct you if you attempt to tease or bully him,
Perfers carbon to kalons
Celebrates his birthday(Nov19) by cutting off Kalon contact and experimenting with carbon for 18-21 hours

Alex adores science, hence their nickname of NaCl. Though Sodium Chloride is
their favourite compound, Bismuth takes the cake as their favourite element.
They love the uniqueness of the element itself, not only the colour or
the formation but some of the trivia facts going along with it. The fact that
bismuth had been used in ancient time fascinates them, as well as the fact
that it was confused with both lead and tin.
Bismuth Trioxide is a key ingredient in a popular firework effect known as the
"Dragon's Egg" and Alex loves fireworks as well.
Alex finds it very interesting that bismuth is only slightly radioactive, to the
point where in most situations it is considered a non-radioactive material.
When they say to someone "my favourite element is bismuth" the usual
reaction is "because you're bi?" and to this, the answer is yes, but there are
two other answers. "because I'm only slightly radioactive" and "because of I
have a colourful personality!"

Elijah has never been good at Science, I fact, outside of Maths it was his worst subject. He was definitely more of an English and Media Studies sort of kal. The numbers and symbols never made sense in his head, the formulas were gibberish and the general concept of Science made him want to shrivel up.

Often times skipping class because of it.

It’s not as if he was a bad student, it was just hard being in a class where he understood nothing and everyone else seemed to catch out without a problem, where as he could be spending that time learning something he could actually wrap his head around without feeling stupid.

However, due to the many revolving jokes around the element Potassium, it would have to be his favourite had he been asked to pick one. It started with a text.

Lightning McMeme: Potassium.

Lightning McMeme: K…? The Symbol for Potassium is K.

You: Oh, ok.... Potassium?

Lightning McMeme: There you go.

From there it spiraled, he started hearing the joke around him more often, kids around class responding with ‘Potassium’ to their peers and sometimes even their teachers, it made him smile, being the one science joke he could understand. It made him feel included, even just a little.

He still doesn’t like, nor understand science.
But he can appreciate a joke for all it’s worth.
