my final GA adopt design!
i had such a blast designing these guys, thank you so much for this opportunity!
it was so fun to read everyone's entries for my comps, so thank you to all of you who entered as well <3

this one started off as being inspired by ZABA's album art but,, then i kinda lost that inspiration and just
stared at the lineart for like 2 days
i'm quite happy with this end result though!

the only requirement for this comp is that you must find a fitting theme song for them! then for extras you can have 600 words max and 2 art pieces max (no comics/animations). i'll mostly be judging on how you relate the song to the extras and what sort of character you shape them into within the limit!

queen adara of the zarkaiya empire;
that is what they called her.

she didn't care for the title, though she
held nothing against it, either. it lacked the
weight needed to be considered a burden; she
was too young to have done anything to
be hated amongst the citizens, and zarkaiya
had always been a peaceful empire. there
were few disputes between it and surrounding
kingdoms that led to anything more than
loud arguments and cold glares.

adara was quiet, rarely seen, a ghost in her
own empire. few held this against her; she
did her job, ensured important news was told,
enforced policies set by her well-loved parents,
kept relations with other kingdoms well. she
simply... preferred the company of herself more
than others. that's what her citizens thought,
and she made no move to correct them.

adara was lonely, of course. but who could keep
her company? certainly not her citizens; what
good would it be to stay in the presence of
those who only wish to impress? there was no
chance she'd feel any better in the company of
other royalty, either; they were the same. so in
the castle she stayed, allowing the long hallways
and empty rooms to be her company.

xxxxxabsinthe is an orphan. her father died before she was born, and her mother died in childbirth. she was taken to an orphanage since the whereabouts of her extended family were unknown. she was a bit of an unusual kit. she preferred to keep to herself and spent hours alone in her room. it was as if she didn't know how to interact with other kits.
xxxxxeventually, she began to ask about her parents. she never received any answers. this frustrated her, but what she didn't know was nobody actually had any knowledge of her family. reaching her breaking point at age fourteen, abbie ran away. she had no idea where she was going or what she would do, but she knew she couldn't stay there any longer. later she'd regret it.
xxxxxso the young kalon made her home the streets of the big city. she grew fond of a particular alley and decided it'd be where she stayed, setting up what she called a bed - though it was merely a couple blankets arranged on the ground - in the shadows. 'but how did she get those blankets?' you might ponder. she stole them from a shop a few blocks away. theft would be her way of supporting herself now. how else would she? a scrawny creature, she still looked like a kit, not an adolescent. she wasn't fit for labor, and who would hire such a young kalon anyway? abbie believed stealing was her only choice. because of this, she found herself in tricky situations often, but with her sharp mind and nimble build, she easily got out of them. by the time she was seventeen, she'd become accustomed to this lifestyle. oh, she nearly was arrested for shoplifting? so what?
xxxxxone fateful day she was walking along a busy street, pickpocketing every moment she could. then for once she was unsuccessful. alarmed, she turned to dart away, but they grabbed her wrist. it was a young male kalon, about eight years older than her. she still attempted to get away but couldn't due to her frailty. the other introduced himself as max, just max, and convinced her to explain to him what the matter was. and so, reluctantly, abbie told her story, ending with a grumble about how she could take care of herself. she didn't need anyone. she'd lived like this for three years. max asked one last question - where she lived. with a sigh of exasperation, the younger described her living quarters. 'can you leave me alone now?' she pleaded. he responded, 'alright, alright. try to stay out of trouble, kid.'
xxxxxabsinthe hoped that would be the last she'd ever see of him, but of course that wasn't the case. after all, why did he ask where she made her home? he planned to visit her - regularly. max passed her alleyway often, sometimes bringing her a meal, stopping in his tracks for a moment to simply say hello, or staying with her for a couple hours to keep her company. she always resented how he would stop by as if she needed help.
xxxxxbut when he didn't show up for a few days, she decided to walk around to see if she could find him or any clue as to why he didn't come. she found a newspaper. 'a kalon named max kerr died in the horrific car crash'. abbie felt numb. she should have been grateful for his help. she felt so alone. she felt like a monster.
xxxxxsuddenly, she realized how wrong her life was. she needed to fix this. but how?
