Me? You want to hear about me? Well, I guess I should start with an introduction. My name's Benjamin Peter Sidney, but I prefer Benji. Why am I called Benjamin exactly? I was named Benji after a character from one of my favourite childhood books: The Tale of Benjamin Bunny. I like my name for the most part; even if my siblings give me grief about being called a 'bunny'.

Tell us about your home.

I grew up in a large family; two brothers, three sisters, all younger than me, in a house out in Georgia’s countryside surrounded by large stretches of farmland, miles away from any cities; it was nothing fancy, but neither were we! As a young’un, I got most of my education from the books Mama brought home and school once a week. My dream has always been to go out and explore the world, and I was close to doing that, but a drought last year wiped out all our crops and a large number of our animals, and Fa wasn't here to help. So being a Sidney meant I had to pull my weight, even at the cost of my dreams. But the farm's recovering quickly, and Aoba is almost old enough to take the torch, so hopefully I can start my own journey pretty soon.

Personality:

Benji is sweet and courteous as far as plumies go, being raised in the country with siblings with haphazard manners has had him develop a distaste for rudeness which remains to this day. However, it is this polite disposition that holds him back from standing up for himself and his dreams. Benji’s politeness should not, however, be mistaken for weakness; growing up as the oldest meant having to push himself to be smarter and stronger than his siblings. But being the oldest meant staying on the farm more often than his siblings, so in order to further his intellect, he read books as often as he can. Benji is always ready to challenge the world and to experience life to its fullest, even if it means getting hurt along the way.

Being raised by a single mother as the oldest among five other siblings has lead him to have a sense of responsibility to his household; he says “until the other kids are grown enough to pull their weight, I have to stay on the farm.”
Despite being a gentle-natured plumie, if woken up, treated unfairly or being pressured by crowds (being isolated from most of society, he is not used to such settings), all hell will be released and Benji will snap.

Baking-

Benji enjoys making people happy, and he decided that the best way to do that was to bake, well, anything! Almost anyone can enjoy food; it brings joy to many, so why not share it with the world? (Related Art)

Cello-
Benji always thought that the cello sounded sad, even as a young boy, it sounded like it needed him, so he learned to play cheerful songs in the hopes that somehow, the cello could sound happier.

Reading-
When he was younger, Benji’s mother worked in the only school in the district, and so had access to some of the only books in the area; books that she would read him every night before bed. Because Benji had responsibilities at the farm and (occasionally) school, even at an early age, time for adventures were slim. Books were an escape. One day he could be a warrior, a titan, a hobbit or an adventurous bunny like his namesake. There are millions of worlds to explore in books, and one day he'd like to create his own. (Related Art)

Journal Writing-
When his father was still around, Benji had time for adventuring with his friend Bjorn. He used to keep a journal to record everything he discovered. But as time went on, the pages began to fade, but his last adventure remains intact:

August 6, 2004

We’re so close. I can feel it. Bjorn and I are exhausted, starving and cold; we ran out of food two days ago, but it’s worth it. The Aurora- a curtain of lights. This was your dream; you wanted to see this. You can’t now… But I can be your eyes. If only I could reach out and grab them for you. I hope you would be proud of me, of us; of what we’ve accomplished. I know I wanted you to stay with me forever, but I have to let you go, your ashes need to be a part of this place. I know you wanted me to live out my own adventures, but I can’t. At least not yet…

Photography was always special to Benji; his father was a photographer who shared his vision with Benji:
Photographs capture life, death, and everything in between; all our happiest days: weddings, birthdays or even just days we spend with our loved ones, all preserved for eternity, for future generations to look at and smile.
After his father’s passing, his father’s passion passed on to Benji.
