There he stands, majestic against the battle's gore.
There he conquers, moving gracefully across the field.
There he kills, his underestimated strength true.
There he saves, his kindness under his armor.

« The thunderstorm had just passed over the kingdom, the air over the battleground was thick and foggy, the temperature humid and cool. The lone figure, the brown dragon, opened his eyes to see in the dim light. The sky was white and bright to the eyes, but with the low and sinking clouds, the brightness was less. Strewn across the field, Drustanus could only see the carcasses of good-hearted dragons left without burial. »

Name Meaning| Drustanus is a name of Welsh origin that means "noise." In this case, the noise I am trying to show is that of during battle there are grunts, there are yells, there are triumphant cries, and moaning losses. But the main noise I am trying to show with the use of the name Drustanus is the sound of swords hitting armor, each other, and flesh. Since Drustanus has a sword, I am assuming that there would be a constant clanking of the sword against his armor.Nickname Meaning| The name Tristan is derived from the old Welsh name Drustanus. The name became popular through the Arthuvian knights, and since then Tristan is a common first name. But, in Drustanus' case, I make it his nickname because the older Welsh version sounds more knightly and medieval.Personality| Drustanus is a dragon of power and stealth. Not only does he give an intimidating impression but also he is kind and worthy of a position as a knight. He is gentle and kind to young dragons, wanting to start a family once he has found the right female, and although he may not look like it, he is one to believe in love. He has not met a female yet, but hopes that his personality will find someone who is right for him. He is genuinely sweet, but when placed on a battlefield, his demeanor changes. Drustanus becomes serious, looking around him with great observation. His smile and sweetness is exchanged for respectfulness and alertness. Despite his loud, commanding voice in the midst of battle, and besides his intense glares and avid stabbings, Drustanus' is still kind. He watches out for those on his side, and his fellow knights confide in him when they are scared. Drustanus is not afraid to step in to take a blow for a fellow fighter, and that is how his kindness is shown in the midst of a gory, horrible battle.______________________________
« Drustanus looked at the bodies with a glint of sadness in his eye. He looked around, not seeing any moving figures. His eyelids lowered a bit, his unnoticeable way of showing the emotion of sad or grief during battle. Drustanus had been knocked out, by a long sharp object no less, one that clashed against his armor with such a strong force that his first body reaction was to go unconscious. He looked down at the protective gear- he saw no dent or damage in his trustworthy armor. »

History| He was born on an unknown, undiscovered island that cannot be seen by the human eye, due to the chemical composition of the dirt and nature upon the land. The way the light hits the particles and atoms that make up the island creates a reflection that the human eye cannot pick up, therefore giving the illusion that the island is not there. The island was mainly one of thick deciduous forest surrounding the border of the island, causing those who could see the island to think that it was uninhabited. But only about 50 yards into the forest, it was a clear land, or more like a lively city with an antique and medieval style.
Upon this island, the dragons were kindhearted and good natured. Of course, they had an accent of their own, but what was more interesting about the land was how all of the dragons learned Old English, speaking with a Shakespearean manner. Several other traditions on the island is that one male born into each family must train to become a knight. On the island, the training is long, tedious, dangerous, and not everyone passes the final exam, which is why one from each family must participate in order to have a decent amount of knights to guard/protect/fight for the city. Other traditions included a National Knight-Appreciation Day, a week of mourning for knights lost in previous battles or during training, and it is a custom to greet a knight with respect. In this city, knights are of high social status and everyone respects their courage, determination, and loyalty to the civilian dragons.
Being a guy myself, I must talk of food on this island. The meals were at a certain time of day, and some dragons were specially trained, these are not knights, to cook enough food for all the dragons in the city. Dragons never ate alone in their houses, and instead meals were a whole city get-together place in the central area. Of course, dragons always had the option to eat by themselves at home, but this was unusual and only sick or weak dragons stayed and ate indoors. The type of food was a typical range of salads, chicken, and heavy-filling pies. The dragons that decided to become cooks for the city made an abundant amount every time and several specialized in grilling, desserts, salads, and drinks.
The knightly training took a course of five years to successfully complete, but of course, some dragons failed and continued to have motivation to become a knight, so for some it was longer. Training began at the age of 13 and knights would knock on the door of every dragon's house on January 1st to ask for the son that was going to become a knight. The first year of training was basic knowledge of armor, weaponry, battle terms, and battle formations. This was taught in the classroom setting. Once they passed the final exam of first year trainees, they began the second and third years. The second and third years of training consisted of learning formations on the ground and memorizing foot work, as well as beginning to learn different blows using different weapons. In the third year, students finally were allowed a school's set of armor and weaponry of their own. Once they passed the second and third year courses, the fourth year consisted of mock battles- putting student against student, like sparring. The fifth year was when dragons were like interns to upper level knights, and followed them around watching and learning. The dragons would go into real battle with the knights, stand night guards with the knights, listen to the knight's every yelled demand, and clean armor with the knights. Once fifth year is passed, each student dragon will be given materials to create his own suit of armor and weapons, and once a dragon has successfully done so, he is considered a young knight. A celebration follows, with one night of festive lantern lighting- sending thousands of the lights to the sky and to the ocean; one of the few signs to humans that they exist.
Training is harsh and demanding. During all years, grades must be kept high, beatings are common among those who messed around, and all teachers spoke in loud, commanding voices. Occasionally a male student would break down sobbing after a severe beating or horrible punishment, but in that case he would be sent home and the family asked for a different male. Almost everyone who gets out of training alive has a scar, unless they were some sort of prodigy. Which Drustanus was.
The day he was gotten from his house, Drustanus was excited. He listened to all of his teachers with extreme patience, and kept his gaze down almost always in the classroom- to let the instructor know he was not challenging him. Drustanus loved learning about the weaponry and memorizing the battle formations- and it was more exciting when he successfully completed the courses on foot. His toughest year though, was the fifth. He interned with an older, gruff dragons who was commanding and intimidating in looks and personality. After the first week of yelling and criticism and glares, Drustanus was afraid he would not be able to pull off through the fifth year, but his in his heart he knew that he wanted to be a knight- not a cook, not a merchant, not anything else. His passion for the job and the fact that he could see his future job so close kept him going through the tough days where it thunderstormed, his boss knight was furious, and he was forced to clean the weaponry outside. He wouldn't give up until the last day and final exam.
Although training was hard, Drustanus continued forth. He could feel that his life was becoming more and more involved with his training and he honestly didn't mind. He couldn't see his family as often, he couldn't just laze around, and he was constantly working, but Drustanus knew that he could see his family and he could relax a little after he finished his training and became a knight. Personality-wise, training didn't really affect Drustanus except for create a whole new persona that only came out during battle. Though he was more serious at those moments, his base characteristics of kindness, loyalty, and passion were hidden underneath his more alert and serious face. He believes it taught him to use his morals and goodness more and made him more humble, despite the fact that he occasionally had to kill dragons.
Most dragons that knew Drustanus when he was a kid said that he always was destined to be a knight. At a young age he shared his big dreams when asked the question, what do you want to be when you grow up, but he never grew out of it. His passion and determination was always with him, but training and knightly experiences made him humble, loyal, trustworthy, and respectful. ______________________________
« His muscles ached, and his head throbbed. Drustanus could not help but wonder if this was what real battle was always like, despite the fact that this was only his first. His first of many. The brown dragon was dusty and caked with dried blood- most not his. He shakily stood to his feet, admiring the courage of some of his fellow knights to give their blood for their country. He thought all was still when suddenly, a slightly darker figure far in the fog began to move, its movements jerky and hurt, the sounds of enemy grunts became louder when Drustanus realized that this figure was not alone. »

Likes| Unlike most dragons that find a liking in physical objects, his training has made Drustanus become more aware of himself and others. He likes kindness, respect, humbleness, hospitality, and bravery, as well as intelligence. All these intangible, but important to him nonetheless. As far as physical objects go, Drustanus likes dragons who he can rely on, respect, and share a friendship or positive bond with. Everything else is relatively neutral.Dislikes| Training made Drustanus strong, lowering his dislikes and changing them to more meaningful things. He dislikes liars, traitors, and sly, manipulative dragons. He dislikes mean and generally negative traits in dragons, and as far as physical things go, he dislikes those who think being a knight is all about being strong. To Drustanus, this is just ignorance, as being a knight combines strength, skill, and power along with grace, dignity, and gentleness.Friends| Finn (owned by Nyx), Stencil (owned by Sculiax)Enemies| Drustanus dislikes to think of anyone as enemies- that is just a part of his knightly nature.Crush| A dragon named Iris (owned by Pokechu12) caught his eye.______________________________
« His eyes narrowed slightly to adjust to the blur of the settling fog. More figures came near, enemy markings dirtied on the approaching uniforms. Drustanus noticed his mentor and other members of his knightly team begin to stir. They slowly made their way to their feet, and Drustanus took a steady but somewhat nervous step forward, sword drawn. They were most obviously outnumbered, and Drustanus felt the prickly feel of fear creep up on him. Then, he yelled, loudly, letting out the pain in his bones and giving himself energy and adrenaline. He lashed forward, slicing the head of the first figure. By this time, the
other knights had gotten up and begun to fight as well, blood splashing, tendons tearing, and the sound of painful cries cut short. Drustanus' mentor, who was older and gruff, was surrounded on the far right, and he was in great pain. A horrible, sad emotion shuddered over Drustanus, who had bad thoughts about how this would end. Nonetheless, he thrust himself to go towards his mentor and enter the dangerous scenario. »______________________________
Poem| Drustanus.
Daring and defying all odds.
Respectful of all.
Understanding and emotional despite his training.
Smart, mentally and socially.
Tough during battle, but kind outside of it.
Adult, being twenty-one.
Nice, in all aspects.
Utterly inspiring in his manner.
Soft for those who care.

« Drustanus leaped into action, slicing enemy throat before the other blade could touch his mentor. His kindness, caring, compassionate self came out during this moment in battle, as he risked his own life to save one older than his own, to save someone who had done a great deal for him and changed Drustanus' life forever. Once the enemy lay dead and still on the cold ground, Drustanus cracked a small, proud smile as he glanced over at his fellow knights, knowing that they had done a job well. And this was not Drustanus' last job well done. In fact, it was far from it. »

Reason For Adopting Drustanus| I specifically chose this dragon because I have always had a fascination for medieval battles, medieval history, and how knights played in. Being a guy myself, I enjoyed making this form more than expected, because I got to combine two of my favorite things: creative writing and medieval theme. I would like for Drustanus to be my first dragon and I would be honored to adopt him and become a part of the community officially (despite how official rainbows and squid barf is).
