My footsteps ring throughout the seemingly-empty cavern. I am caught up in a wave of sleet beneath me, shifting farther from the point. Thrown off like a pebble into water, my balance wavers and is lost as I plummet to the ground in a flurry of colors. Pale stars drift around me and shimmer faintly in the light. Gleaming crystals amongst the rest, I slam my eyelids shut into darkness.

I stir to the rhythmic pattering of raindrops upon my face. The dull sky casts a frown down at me. A weak light flickers nearby- and upon closer investigation, it seems to be a lantern of sorts. Instinctively tempted to search for the owner, though the only nearby village had been robbed of its scraps and abandoned.

Surrounding me is two small, sharp slopes, diving in towards me and making a wall near the water. A rough slate of rock juts out beside me- this one, directed towards the village. Amongst this, I am on a fairly-flat area- with both the sea and the village within nearby reach.

And the sea churns impatiently, reflecting the light of a shattering lightning bolt. I pick up the lantern and duck into the nearest cave, the rain still pelting the slick grass outside.

Story;; Lightning crackled across the dark, rain filled sky as the young vaiki slid under the cover of a small abandoned building. Wet sand clung to her soaked fur and her eyes stung with salty ocean water as she feebly backed away from the door. None of her crew mates were in sight, most likely a few miles away, taking shelter in their ship. Realizing there was only one thing left to do,she crawled over to a corner of the empty building and sat down to wait the storm out.
