Story: My first memory and my first encounter with a human was when I hatched. I was enclosed in the leathery shell of my egg when something cut through. The mucus and blood vessels that provided me with air and life were pulled back as a thick finger looped through one of my coils and pulled me up. I immediately tried to slither around once my head was exposed to the cold and I flicked my tongue out to investigate. The human said something I didn't understand. It might've been about me? I slithered around and ended up in a tangled mess with several of my other siblings, until we were transferred to a bin. I settled down into the darkness to rest after the whole ordeal and was left mostly alone.

I first remember curious, peering eyes. They weren't very close to me, but they glittered in the dim red light. I didn't feel threatened at all, in fact I recognized a sort of awe in their gaze. I sat with just my head poked out, resting for a moment. I had been fighting through my shell for what felt like hours.
I felt a small sound through the plastic container, through the wood chips, through my shell. I wasn't afraid though, because I knew that that set of eyes meant me no harm.

The Earth's calm warmth was lulling my cold body to sleep when I felt a thud more shaky than others. It was heavier and bigger than that of the furry four-legged things with sharp teeth, that's for sure. And they have these two huge pillars of warmth, not four.
