After staying up late to judge half of this and spending my morning doing the rest and narrow it down, it came down to a few forms. It was hard, so I asked a few guest judges to help me narrow it down. In the end all of them agreed that this form showed the most unique character while being well written and easy to follow. I loved the story, and this character is just very interesting and I can't wait to see him develop further in the future. It may have not been art, but sometimes words say more than art. before I announce the winner, I'd like to give a shout out to Placebo for having some amazing art done of this plumerian, I loved the effort and I can tell you spend a lot of time on it. In the end, however, it came down to who showed more character and which one stood out more. While all of you had amazing forms, most of them had a central theme, while this form seemed to stray away from that and stand out among every other form.

“Find him! Don’t let him get away!”

xxxxxAltair could hear the guards screaming far behind in the downpour, but it was far too late already, by the time they had assembled enough and figured out exactly how much damage he had dealt to their forces he’d be long gone. A echoing boom sounded behind him, causing a smirk to raise the corners of his mouth, it looked like the slow-fuse bombs left behind had finally done their work, and hopefully made enough damage to slow his pursuers even more.

xxxxxHe continued to run well into morning, until he reached a suitable place to make camp and rest his now-weary and soaked body. Slowing to a stop in the secluded break in the trees, he finally stopped to inspect his prize. Laying his cloak out on the ground to prevent the precious artifacts from damage, he carefully inspected the couple pieces with a practiced eye, confirming they were real and had not sustained any damage.

xxxxxThe couple old books and small map he had taken seemed to be in perfect condition still, luckily the rain hadn’t dampened them inside his coat. His eyes roved over to his most important prize however, a small box inlaid with mother of pearl, and covered with a delicate design in miniscule pieces of amethyst, sapphire, jade, and opal. The box itself was worth a fortune, but what had been claimed to be resting inside it was worth much, much more.

xxxxxTaking a soft breath Altair eased open the clasp on the box and with utmost care lifted the lid. There it was nestled snuggly in dark silks, a crystal flute, which to the untrained eye looked no different than most, however, Altair knew better. Carefully Altair lifted the fragile instrument from its casing and brought it to his lips. With one breath he closed his eyes and began to play the legendary instrument.

xxxxxEach note that slid from the flute did so with a ease and mind of its own. Altair allowed the music to speak for him, and soon even the raucous chatter of the birds had quieted, as if the whole forest was listening, and indeed it was. From where Altair sat invisible pulses of energy began to flow in and out of him and the instrument as it interacted with the world around it. Using only the soul of the music the forest breathed and grew, healing disease and calming the feral nature of it.

xxxxxAnd so it was, wherever Altair allowed the flute’s music to be heard, peace and brightness flourished. However, the good that came out of the flute harmed Altair himself, causing him pain whenever the healing magic worked. Although a thief Altair had a kind heart, and allowed his pain to be punishment for his own cruel deeds, happy of the chance to bring peace unto others. For the remainder of his travels Altair allowed his gift to atone for his harm.
