Story About Their Childhood:
"The Child's Castle"
Kaela has always loved one place above all others. The beach. She loves everything about being there. The smell of the salty ocean, the warm sun on her face as she lays tanning, the coolness of the waves on her fur, and the feel of the sand between her wet toes. But she especially loves sandcastles. She took a trip one time to the beach on a particularly hot summer's afternoon the day after she turned eleven (in human years.) However, none of her friends would come. And this particular day she found herself getting bored, not because she had started to stop enjoying the beach as much but because she was upset that her friends had left her. She wanted it to be a special day. She moped back and forth across the length of the beach before noticing a sobbing young male viscling near the west shoreline. Kaela quietly padded closer out of curiosity. When she got near to him, she realized that in front of him was a soggy, ruined sandcastle. That must be why he's crying! She mentally exclaimed to no one in particular. Now Kaela, being an intense lover of sandcastles, could not allow this atrocity to go unfixed. She walked up and smiled sweetly to him. "Did the mean waves do that to your beautiful sandcastle?" she spoke gently to him. The viscling nodded softly in response, wiping the tears still flowing rapidly from his reddened eyes. "Well, we can't just leave your masterpiece in a shambles! How about we build it back up together!" She said, grinning broadly to show her enthusiasm. The child's eyes brightened at her words, and he nodded vigorously before plunging his hands into the damp sand. Kaela giggled at his sudden but heart-warming mood change and began molding beside him. The two worked long and hard until they were both satisfied. And as a final important touch, Kaela dug a deep moat around their fortress so water couldn't seep in. Then, both took their paws and placed them on the sand near their castle's entrance. The castle in question was not the most elaborate Kaela has built. Not even close. But as she stared in awe at their creation, long after the child had to leave for home, she couldn't help but think that it was the best, most important one to her. It was a shining symbol of the good she could do for others; for children. Because of this one day at the beach when all of her friends abandoned her, she began to pursue a career in child work and became a much more caring and helpful person to others. She often laughs at how silly she was to think that that day would not be special. It was indeed the most special and life-changing one that she has ever had to date.
