☙Personality❧

Grim is independent and confident. But he can get nervous when talking to strangers or
around large groups of people. He's really easy going and he doesn't like conflict. He's
really sensitive and doesn't like seeing someone unhappy. Conflict makes him uneasy, and
he really doesn’t like all those turbulent emotions focused on him. He's kind and accepting.
Grim's also really adventurous. He likes to travel and see new things. He’s also very
protective and likes to help those in need. That’s why he likes to go around hunting
monsters: dragons that attack towns, vicious griffons, and nasty trolls. Having been treated
like a monster on numerous occasions, he only likes to hunt creatures that seek to hurt
others. He’ll also fight to defend himself from hungry or territorial creatures in the woods.

Personal Interview

⊰ History ⊱

Grim was raised on the edge of a town in a little house in the woods with his parents. Mother was a practicing witch, father was an air sima. Their family wasn’t well liked and they were sometimes ostracized by the townspeople. When Grim was a young teen, a forest fire destroyed his home and damaged part of the town before it was put out. His parents were killed trying to escape the flames. Even though she died in the fire, the townspeople blamed Grim’s mother for the disaster and he was chased off for fear that he would bring more disaster upon them. They broke his jewel in an attempt to prevent him from using his powers and becoming a witch. And then they chased him away from the town.

Grim ran. Over the next few months Grim tried to find a new town, but every place he went, he was chased off because of his intimidating looks. After about a month or so, Grim lost his eye to a bear. He was having some trouble finding food and was really hungry. He was out scavenging for food, and found a carcass. But a bear was already eating at it. He didn’t back off quick enough for the bear’s liking. So, they attacked him. Grim escaped, but the bear had clawed his right eye. His mother and father had taught him some first aid and herbal remedies, so Grim was able to stop the bleeding and disinfect the wound. Grim was hiding out in the words when he saw two young simas get cornered by a dragon. Grim jumped between them and told the kids to run. Grim fought the dragon off, but during the fight the dragon bit off his left leg. Grim ran off into the woods, he wasn’t up to running from townspeople after just losing his leg. He collapsed under a bush; and that’s where Morow’s pack found him.

They took him in. They cared for him as he healed and as he learned to walk on three legs instead of four. It was with them that Grim gained his confidence. He’d been disliked by other simas all his life and being chased away by several mobs created a lot of fear in him. The wolves were kinder than most simas had been to him up to that point. They taught him to hunt and track. They gave him a community. They taught him to be a warrior. Grim crafted tools for himself and became proficient at hunting with them. Over the next few years he became quite adventurous and independent. He got restless staying within the pack’s territory. He wanted to travel; so he left.

He wandered the mountains and forests for a couple years. He made a friend in Liana the hawk and they became hunting partners. Then he came to another town. Things were different this time. He was different. Grim walked into town knowing that whatever happened, he would be okay. The simas in this town treated him like any other visitor; he wasn’t chased away because of fear or superstition. Grim stayed in the town and made friends that were just as accepting of him as Morow and her pack were.

Grim moved into a little house near to the city center, but not right in the middle of things. He spends a lot of time with his new friends and likes going out places with them. Grim has PTSD from the trauma of the fire and being chased out of towns repeatedly. Because of this he gets anxious when in big crowds and social stress can bring it on as well. With the help of his friends he’s learning to manage it and it’s getting easier to be in crowded spaces. They go out a lot because Grim likes to see different places and experience new things.

☽ Morow's Pack ☾

Morow’s pack consisted of seven members when Grim met them. Morow was the alpha female and leader of the pack. Her mate was Tamaska. There were two other adults in the pack; Morow’s sister, Halo, and another male, Keeda. There were also Morow’s three yearling pups: Shasta, Frost Feather, and Blitz. While Grim was living with the pack, Frost Feather left to find a new pack. Morow also had one other litter of pups: Ash, Sky, Klondike, and Whisper. Morow took care of Grim like he was one of her pups. He played with Shasta, Frost Feather, and Blitz and they were like siblings to him. Keeda taught him to how to track his prey through the woods. Tamaska was always there to support his pack, with words or just his warm presence. Grim admired that about Tamaska and tries to emulate his compassion. The whole pack taught Grim how to fight and defend himself. They also taught him that you don’t always need to fight. Sometimes you just need to be confident in yourself and ignore the harassment of others. Grim and his siblings helped raise Morow’s other litter. They played with the pups while Morow rested and taught them to hunt. The pack’s territory was wide, spanning most of a forest and the side of the mountain. There were two main dens within the territory and one or two unused ones. Their spring den was near a river and Grim could hear the frogs croaking at night. The winter den was in a denser part of the forest.

♔Where does he live now?♔

Grim currently lives in a little yellow house in town. He’s got two comfy sofas in the living room which is kitty corner and open to the kitchen. He’s got a tall bookcase in the living room holding many books and knickknacks. There are shells and different rocks. A couple amethyst and red geodes. There’s a snow globe of a Japanese pagoda and a ceramic unicorn. There’s also an antler and many different feathers. There’s a medium sized TV sitting on a short cabinet along the outside wall. The cabinet holds some movies, but no video games. Grim’s favorite parts about his kitchen are the oven and stove because he loves to cook. All over the house Grim has installed perches for Liana. Some are just the standard, a horizontal bar on top of a pole. But some are like hooks, just rods attached to wooden plaques screwed into the wall.

Upstairs Grim’s room is large and cluttered. The mattress rests on the floor. He’s got a dresser, a bookshelf, and a nightstand. The nightstand has a small modern lamp and a small, framed painting of Grim’s parents. The bed has dusky red sheets and a dark green comforter. There are stuffed animals strewn across the rumpled covers: a skeleton bat, a fluffy grey brown wolf, a black bear, a pink dolphin, and a light blue hippo. There are books, binders, some CDs, a couple smaller stuffed animals, a potted plant, and some cans of pencils on the book shelf. The dresser is covered in bandanas and bows. A wooden wolf sculpture and a jewelry box also sit on top of it. The jewelry box holds earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.

In the backyard there are two gardens and a nesting box for Liana. The nesting box sit on a stand about seven feet in the air. It’s like a large birdhouse, with a sloped roof and a wide opening for Liana to enter through. Inside there is straw and a perch. Grim keeps two gardens. One is his fruit and vegetable garden where he grows tomatoes, carrots, squash, strawberries, peas, and cucumbers. The other, smaller garden is his herb garden. Here he grows herbs like basil, chives, mugwort, and wolfsbane.

The night of the fire Grim runs away from the burnt town. Terrified and in tears.



As Liana leaves to begin the hunt, Grim feels a stab of fear. What if she just keeps going?
"Come back safe."


Grim curled up in Morow's den with her pack around them. He realizes he'd never felt so accepted and cared for in a long time. These creatures showed him more kindness than most simas he had met.
