Baby’s-breath is everywhere. Caius knows this because he, too, has been everywhere, or so it seems. It’s indistinct—at 70 mph, it’s no more than a streak of white in a sea of red earth—but it sticks around from Minnesota rest stop to Montana gas station to Washington hotel. There, Caius can barely move his head without seeing the stuff.

In the more populated parts of the world, he has to know where to look. At 25 mph, crawling through city center, baby’s-breath hides in the hands of brides and the back of florists’ vans delivering to hospitals.

Caius knows of one last hiding place for it—tucked between the pages of a well-thumbed book in the backseat, plucked from one home and waiting for another.

Jacob works as a florist in the state of Maine. Flowers have always fascinated him, although his friends tease him about it. They are only joking though. Flowers are his passion. Not only does he arrange flowers, but he grows them in his own backyard and brings them to the shop to sell. Well, except for imported flowers from, say, the Amazon or Japan. Mostly though, he grows them. Breeding flowers to get new colors is also an interest of his.

One of the upsides of being a florist for Jacob is that he gets hired for flower arrangements. Usually, they are for something like Mother's Day or birthdays. But every now and then, he gets a very special order, such as for a wedding. Before he became a florist, Jacob had never been to one. Afterwards however, a close friend of his hired him to do all the flower arrangements for him and his fiancé' wedding. Jacob was flattered, and ever since, weddings have been his all time favorite job. But every customer is important to him, and he always does his best to make them happy.

The White Pinecone and Tassel flower is a pretty typical favorite flower because it is the state flower. But Jacob grew up in Maine and has lived there his whole life. That and his fascination with flowers, it only makes sense it would be his favorite. Well, he also has a pinecone collection... He has collected pinecones ever since he was a little kid, and he uses them for various crafts. Plus, he's found they make good fertilizer for his garden.

I was only meant to visit for a brief time, on assignment to document various instances of exotic flora and fauna. I had been walking contentedly along the dirt path leading up the mountain when suddenly, a flash of grey feathers pronounced itself in the corner of my eye, and I strayed from the path to pursue the bird. I darted after it, but it outsped me, and as I continued to wander the winding South African peak, it became apparent that I was hopelessly lost. I meandered around listlessly, kicking at the sparse vegetation and the sandy earth beneath my feet. After the seemingly endless amount of dead ends at every which way I turned, my throat became dry and parched, and my stomach rumbled. The heat made me sick and sleepy; my head spun. It was then that I saw them. They emanated such character, such distinct presence. I saw their faces, resembling a bird's beak and a fancy feathered crest. They were ornate and regal, casually staring down upon me with their pointed noses upturned slightly, whispering amongst themselves, bickering over the appearance of the intruder who stood mere inches from them. I spoke to them in delirious desperation, blathering about how I wished to go home back to everyone I knew, to get out of this unrelenting heat, how I didn't want to die out here on the mountain. There was a hushed silence amongst the flowers. The wind shuffled, and they all collectively turned their tapering bills in the same direction, leading me back from where I had come.

Elizabeth fell in love with the peony as a small child, for it was the flower of her family. She grew up around them in the gardens of England and was tron apart when her parents decided to move to America. Her parents wanted a new start, though it wasn't the peony that she was afraid she was losing, but the family she was leaving behind. The day that she started her new life, her grandmother have gave her a packet of Peony seeds, this is what started her love for gardening, though not her passion and aspiration in life.

When Elizabeth grew older her garden grew with her, but she had found her love in fashion, high fashion. She enjoyed sketching and coming up with new idea's but always kept the peony in mind and in her designs. Though normal street close didn't seem to fit the elegance in the peony. It wasn't until she was in her early twenty's did she realize her passion was designing wedding dresses that where adorn in peony, and thus became her signature flower and look. At the age of twenty three her wedding dresses caught on and at the age of twenty five she even made a perfume that was inspired by the peony. Now at the age of twenty seven she is well known for her designs her scents and made the peony a popular flower with weddings and celebrations.
