"The place the town of Kimberton is built on used to be called, years ago, Everwalk. It was said to be the territory of Tiger-Cat's son, Quick-Claw. Quick-Claw would pace up and down, and thus he was said to be ever walking. As the story goes, he shifted the sand there so much, that plants grew fewer and fewer. Some versions of the myth say that the beach was originally all-grass up to the ocean, and that he would pace the entire parameter... A tall tale, of course. Although yet another says that it was called Everwalk because his ghost still haunts the place."

You say that the rest of your family is rather frightened by humans. Why is that so? Have you had any bad experiences with people in the past?

"Not truly, at least, not in recent years. Back in the day, even before I was born, pirates would occasionally stop by, and their fighting amongst each other gave up a poor opinion of humans, at that time. We used to get along with the Kimbers, although, after they moved to live on another island, humans largely did not come here. This, a lot of my family have only seen humans from a distance, and prefer to avoid them. They are just not used to them yet."

"i shall tell you about who the Kimbers learned to tame hawks and falcons of the island to aid in hunting!"

"Once, the legendary prince of the Kimber-men, who was called Kye Moe, was said to had swam across the sea, in search of food during a famine. It was a heroic, and impossible thing, for, you see, he swam because his boat had sunk during a storm."

"The Kimbers believed that Hawk-Cry, a mighty bird, was lord over the sea winds. Hawk-Cry's people were often hunted by the Kimbers for food at the time, especially during the famine, and so he wished to destroy the Kimber's hope. however, seeing that Prince Kye Moe prevailed against the odds, and swam all the way to a island that had enough food for his people, Hawk-Cry was impressed."

"Hawk-Cry's people were also starving, and so, when the price arrived at the island shore, Hawk-Cry made a decision. Fearing that Prince Kye Moe would not share the food he had discovered, he decided to make a deal. Kimber-man and bird-kind of Liland would work together to gather and hunt. In return, Hawk-Cry would help the boats and redirect the wind sso that sailors were safe."

"Since that time, the two races honored each other. The Kimbers hunted other animals, but are said to have never eaten birds of prey again."
