Once on a melancholic night, hoping not for a blight,
For among the thick forest floor lay vicious poison quill
And none other did roam, through the dense brome
Not even the robin did sing- through the woodlands did despair ring.
Alas, I had no place to go- I was stuck amid the blurry snow.
Then stumbled I upon a lacey novel,
It seemed buried deep a mile, but me it did beguile
So I set my chase to uncover the book, with less than a shovel.
Uncovr'd a deep velvety case, of the owner there was no trace
For I was the only viscet around, with no double.
Snapped open the container open and to my surprise
Lay a magnificent golden book, and so out I took
The mysterious gleaming novel.
