Personality:: Adreanna loves making friends, even though they almost always leave as soon as summer ends. She's used to people leaving a lot, and knows not to get too attached to nice things. Sometimes that depresses her, but she always tries to stay as optimistic as possible, so she doesn't try to think about that too much.
Favorite water based activity:: She spends her time searching for crabs and other small animals when the tide goes out. She loves seeing their behaviors in their natural habitats. Even though she does sometimes try to catch them she would never dare keep them or move them somewhere unfamiliar!

*Personality*
Aurelia feels completely out of place among people on dry land. People don’t make a whole lot of sense to her, and she struggles to make connections in social situations. It’s difficult for her to open up to people, but when she finally does she is always pleasantly surprised, and makes friends easily.

*Favorite water based activity*
She spends most of her time deep-sea diving. Her ability to sea clearly under water, coupled with her love of marine wildlife, keeps her in the ocean for hours. She challenges herself to dive deeper and deeper each time, and she collects shells from the sea floor as mementos.





*History*
Aurelia has been swimming for as long as she can remember. Water feels like home to her; it’s embrace cold but comforting. When she’s out of the water she feels uncomfortable and lost. But living entirely in the ocean just isn’t possible, so she compromises by living as close to the sea as she can, and interacting as little with the land as possible. She’s slow to trust others, and prefers to be completely independent, often to her own detriment.

The sun was rising, red and yellow and pink spilling into the sea. Each color stretched across the waves like a painting, as if the entire sea was on fire. Aurelia smiled. It was time to go swimming.

The water was cold where she lived, but the chill never bothered her. She jumped in without hesitation, and felt the kind of instant joy she only felt here. The ocean was home; it’s crashing waves and smooth sand a warm embrace to her. She paddled forward, ducking under each wave as it came, savoring the momentary feeling of weightlessness as the wave picked her up and then set her gently back down.

When she got out far enough, the waves stopped, and she closed her eyes for a moment, enjoying the peacefulness and quiet of the open sea. She controlled her breathing for a few moments, slow inhales and exiles. Then, she dove.

Quiet. Instant quiet. It was one of her favorite feelings. Everything else melted away: the city, the lights, the sky, when she was under water. Only the cool silence of the ocean was beneath and above her, and the distant churn of the waves. She swam deeper and deeper, aiming for the small patch of coral she saw on the ocean floor. Swirling around it was a school of colorful fish, and when she reached them they danced around her like the wind. Aurelia let out a bubbling giggle that raced to the surface. She was home.

*About the Glasses*
Her eyes can see clearly underwater, which means that she needs glasses when she’s on land. She prefers reading glasses so that she can choose whether or not to see the world around her clearly. When her surroundings are blurry, it’s easier for her to imagine buildings being made of coral and rock, and people as colorful fish swimming between them. Putting things in focus ruins that illusion, but she keeps her glasses so she can read and paint.

*Fun Facts*

*Her paw-pads contain the same stingers as jellyfish, so those who try to touch her paws are in for a nasty shock. As a result, she can also touch jellyfish without being stung.

*She doesn’t eat fish, and tries to stay on a vegetarian diet as much as possible.

*Her house is covered from top to bottom in all the seashells she’s collected over the years.

*She may or may not have stolen lobsters from tanks in the grocery store in order to set them free.
