I stand in the middle of grand room, the white marble floor is cold and the towering walls echo every word. The crowd in the benches behind me sit silent, waiting for my judgment. The man at the head of the courtroom coughs abruptly before looking up to meet my eyes. I shrink beneath his gaze, swallowing thickly. My heart hammers in my chest as I wait for what comes next.

I live in a place beyond the clouds, some may say it's the land of the angels, but I'm not quite sure how much truth that statement holds. My home is for those of the purest heart in our universe, they come here after life elsewhere. We are born with wings, something I had not known was a privilege.
