Small story about him: whoosh. The gentle sound of Juymara pads brushing the ground echoed across the desolate canyon. The massive, lion-like beast paused his slient trek, and shook his sangria mane. He glanced at the horizon, lit by the not yet risen sun. Tensing his legs, he leaped up the crimson rocks, sprinting to the top.
Out of breath, he scrabbled onto the massive stone, percariously balancing above the canyon below. The massive stone began to tip, causing the Juymara to scurry to the center, balancing it with his heavy weight. Breathing a sigh of relief, he gazed over the edge of the rock.
The view was breathtaking. Seemingly endless mahogany canyon stretched below the Juy's paws. Layers of rock millions of years out stuck out, a scar in the middle of the desert like surroundings. Cutting through the canyon was a crystal clear river, appearing to slice clean through the rock, like a diamond blade. The water surged and sprayed a pearly white foam, cool and relieving from the hot desert heat. All this lay a little over a mile below the purple-maned beasts' paws.
After taking it all in for a little, his attention snapped back to the sky. The sun was barely peeking out of the distant mountains. Feeling the sunlight hit his face, the creature roared in triumph, feeling like the king of the world. It echoed across the walls of the rock, causing a bit to crumble off into the depths below. His eyes glistened with power, obstensively absorbing the sunlight. Baring his teeth, he prowled to the edge of the rock, causing it to slide off its thin base. Before it crashed into the now choppy water, he sprung off.
Time seemed to go in slow motion. Mid leap, the Juy almost thought he wouldn't make it to the other side. His front paws landed heavily onto the more malleable clay, his back legs dangling into the abyss. He quickly heaved his bulk up, once again letting out a sigh.
His gloden markings gleaming in the now risen sun, he twisted his mouth into a grin. "Worth it," he murmured, darting away from the rock slide, commencing due to the fallen rock.
He didn't look back.
