Well.
Bear Run had done a lot of extravagant things in its existence, but this, this new member of the community happened to be something else.
It started with Iceland's open policy on polar bear shooting, the large carnivores not so kindly welcomed on the small island beaches. And so with the policy came the inevitable loss of a few scattered bears throughout the last couple of decades. The law wavered though, about two years ago when locals caught a mother and her cub by surprise in their need of refuge. The mother was brought down out of safety for the nearby residents, but the cub was noticed just moments later, surprising many by its appearance. It was small and fraught, weak after the long swim, and an uproar went out over its future. Bear Run being the eccentric lot they are offered to give the cub shelter and food in its reserve and soon nursed the cub to health. Meanwhile Iceland officials and courts of different nations debated and argued over the well-being of the young cub. But finally, after three long years of the cub in Bear Run custody and no set future in store, the decision was made. Slightly too late as the bear grew accustomed to icelandic tolter horses and staff, but made nevertheless.
The now young bear was meant to be offered a new home, and that's where affiliated stables started to step in. The bear currently is in need of a lifelong home, on a reserve, in a zoo, in a rehabilitation center, somewhere where the bear can grow and be welcomed for years to come. It's impossible for the bear to return 100% to the wild though, having been in the care of Bear Run for most of its young life. We're reaching out to you, tolter stables, centers, reserves, and well-meaning care-takers, to find the best possible home that can be afforded to Bear Run's first and only bear.

There was a hiccup in time when Suður Hæðir Manor ["south downs"] was located in Yukon Valley, Canada. Our first mare, Parcel, was from a lovely valley in southern Iceland, and because of that we named our barn after her home.
We shipped her up to Canada and started a small ranch, expanding the icelandic breed of tolters gradually. At one point, we owned more horses than we did land, so we decided to move.
We moved to somewhere that had more land--the birthplace of our first mare. The previous owners of the land were retiring, and we inherited the land for a discount price. A quarter of the revenues from the horses would go to the previous owners, and the rest would go to the ranch.
The day we received your unusual call about the bear that needed a home, we were a bit shocked. We were under no pressure to take the bear in, of course, as several other barns affiliated with Bear Run are lined up to take him also. We have just paid off the land, and we're starting to expand the barns and paddocks for the horses--we don't have room to rehabilitate a bear at the time, let alone the space.
After some discussion, we decided our family has been growing too large for the limited amount of land anyways, so we've looked into buying more property some where else so we can accommodate the unusual new addition if no one else can. We've scoured high and low, and settled on a familiar property that has quadrupled in size--Southern Downs of Yukon Valley in Canada, our old home. The government seized the land and had been holding it for a while, only to resell it with it's natural resources replenished.
It has adequate space, and since we've been sitting on our finances, building a home for your furry friend will be no problem.
After contacting local officials, they confirmed that if we built an enclosure that met the correct requirements, we could house a domesticated bear. Since he has been raised by humans for the first three years of his life, we're going to be building a sizable enclosure for him to live in if you choose to accept our offer. We'll leave several acres [sixty acres, to be exact] of land prepped for the construction of the habitat, and we have a construction crew on standby. I've put myself to the task of researching polar bears for weeks now, and given the finances we have, we will have plenty of money to buy hammocks, a deep freezer for meat, and an extremely large, cold swimming pool. Polar bears can inhabit an upwards of 3,000 square kilometeres in the wild, so we would look into expanding his territory by putting funds aside in a bank account with large interest. I also read that your bear likes to swim up to the glass and flip backwards under water, so we'll make sure that one side of the pool has glass and an underground building next to it so he can interact with visitors. His indoor den will be made with soft substrate, and there will be a couple other dens spread out over his territory, which will be surrounded by very high wooden fences.
We are also passionate about the cause for polar bears and will not be selling our land in Iceland, but instead renting it to a polar bear rescue center.
If you find a more convenient home for your bear, we send our regards, and aid if need be, to the future permanent owner(s).
We wish you the best in finding him a home!
Sincerely, the family at South Downs.
