What are Novibats?

Novibats are a unique species of bats that can take up residence anywhere their heart desires...

Novibats are bequeathed with special "star-stones" that operate as magical transforming agents. Once they come of age, their star stone changes color (the little diamond in the center) and they undergo a permanent metamorphosis which results in their designation to a specific biome. Once metamorphosed, it is incredibly difficult to leave and often results in death because the Novibat is not suited to other climates. Novibats can then remove their star stones, as it loses most magical properties it held and becomes a memento for the Novibat. However, they usually keep them around their necks as it is something they keep with them all their lives as physical memories of their homeland and the Star-Stones serve as a form of name tag.

hello to those who aren't familiar with me, i'm crystals, a new artist of the novibats species!
i look forward to saying hello to you all, and making more adopts!

for this competition, you must give me a quick background of this novibat. the background can not be longer than 250 words.
if their name is japanese, it must be a traditional or common name, and not something like "x is japanese for y"
avoid centering everything around sakura flowers/cherry blossoms and japan as well - it's not interesting, realistic or original.

Background; Akira never really interacted with others when she was younger, often preferring to hide under her parents' large wings. She grew up amongst the greenery around high places. With the constant wind around, learning fly was a breeze. Akira is quite the smart and intuitive one as she picks up skills rather easily compared to others her age. Even though she never really interacted with other Novibats a lot, she still tries to be nice.
As Akira got older, she started to open up more to other Novibats, slowly opening her social circle. Even though she still likes to keep her circle of friends as small as possible, she is still willing to help and talk to others. Learning how to fly when she was young taught her how to manoeuvre better when she was older. Now she is the best flyer in her circle of friends, many very jealous of her flying prowess.

Carlo was born weak. Much smaller than his sibling, it was believed that he may not survive. Due to such, two of his parents chose to keep a distance from him and focus on the much stronger sibling which was born. The third, though, a female by the name of Willow, instantly fell in love with him. She gave him a strong name, hoping this would grant him strength somehow. Willow tended to her sweet Carlo with all the love any mother could possibly give to her child and despite his weakness' she did her best to push him and encourage him to become as strong as she knew he could be. Carlo has always felt thankful for Willow, as had it been up to the other two parents who birthed him, he may not have even survived, if only for extreme lack of care and support. Now that he is a little older, he has indeed grown stronger, but still, not as strong as a typical male should be. He has come to terms with this, but also he does not allow his weakness to rule him. He will give twice as much effort as anyone else to complete a task or do something, he refuses to allow himself to fail and will constantly push himself to complete a task. His world revolves around Willow, his mother, and he would do absolutely anything for her.
