War Story:
I stood silently as the strange man sinched up my girth, I held my breath to the point I thought I may faint, but luckily I didn't. Once the man stepped back, admiring his work and ability to figurativly split me in half, I gasped for air, and the girth loosened. He reached up and patted me on the neck and said "Paris, old girl, I could never get anything past you". I nickered, acknowledging that he was talking to me. He snorted and walked off, apparently grabbing the costume artist to fix my Sergeant Reckless outfit.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I am often used for War Recreations, and play almost any part, from the main character to the background tied-up pony. Usually I will be used for pulling some sort of cart, but no, today I was going to be Sergeant Reckless.
I could be easily considered Sergeant Reckless's complete oppisite, since she was a tiny mongolian mare, and a plain chestnut with little markings, and extremely light boned, on the other hand I am a big 17hh flashy dappled grey tobiano, big boned and no-one could say I wasn't gorgeous.
I stare down at the photo of Sergeant Reckless that the designer was holding, yep chestnut, I thought. I held still while she fastened the red blanket onto my back. It read: Sgt Reckless First Marine Division.
My tail grazed over my back as I swatted that annoying fly, that was almost annoying as the designer. It had been a good hour since she first started fitting this blanket to me, and here we are, still standing here. Tempted to reach down and bite that big floofy wig of hers, something else caught my attention. The men dressed as marines marched out carrying a sign that said: She isn't a horse, she's a marine!
I snorted as I read this, humans are so strange.
We went about the war recreation, I preformed some of my tricks when asked, such as bowing and rearing. The whole time all I thought about was how hot it was to be wearing this blanket, I felt terrible thinking that the actual Sergeant Reckless had to wear this all the time! I waltzed about carrying letters or something on my back, and finally the recreation was over. I excitedly nickered as they unclipped the blanket, only to reveal my back, drenched in sweat and foam. Some other people came around and started to groom me, they clipped my bridle path, and shaved my ears so that they weren't so fuzzy. Oh well, at least people are paying attention to me.
They unhooked me from the post and led me into the fancy trailer, and hauled me back to the barn where I happily relaxed in my comfortable stall.
