They dream of sheep; countless amounts of sheep. Many of the times they've seen them it's been a sign of them having restless dreams. They even see the sheep in other dreams, even nightmares. For some reason, sheep are a recurring theme for their dreams. They don't even like sheep.

But when he has an actual dream it's always of fantastical world's and adventure. His daydreams are full of good too, including romance and and a dream of a good night sleep.

Maru opened their eyes, their red pupils adapted to get used to the dark light of the factory; they lived there since they felt they couldn’t live in the town. They got up out of their sleeping position and stretched, one leg at a time.

“Another day.” They said with a deep breath, flicking their tail and padding over to a reflective piece of metal they used as a mirror to grab their comb

“Maybe today’s the day?” They said to themself, combing the same spot in their mane over and over until they felt it was satisfactory. Minutes -- more like hours had passed until Maru finished brushing their mane, the fluffy kalon stood up and walked over to the small window of the factory, sat down and looked at the forest surrounding it. Since the factory was somewhat abandoned nature has taken its spot back from the building. The wind gently weaved through their hair, sending a soft, cold, shiver down their back.

Maru took a deep breath in from the forest area, but was interrupted by a soft, but loud enough to hear, knock on the door of the factory. “What the…” They were confused, they never got visitors. Who was this? Is it a prank? They thought to themself as they walked over to the door, pulling the handle of the large steel door with their mouth.

The door opened and no one was there. “Who in their right mi- huh?” They looked down and saw… a letter? It was a letter addressed to them. Maru never got mail, they never had visiors, and they barely ever went out of the factory; the only time would be to get some food. They looked around and saw no one… strange. They decided to take the letter, they closed the door behind them and went towards the window for light to read the letter. Maru opened the letter and held the paper up to the sunlight, it read:


“Maru…,

I don’t know how to express this but here I go.

I know you feel alone in the factory, you feel like no one could stay…

But I could, I could stay with you. If you let me I mean.


Okay this letter isn’t going well… I wanted to write something to you but I didn’t know what and now i’m stuck…

I just wanted to tel--”

The rest of it was smudged and illegible, Maru still doesn’t know what the stranger wanted to tell them, they still wait from their window for more letters to come.
