The waves near the beach at night looked magnificent, prettier than usual. The moon's shine bouncing of both of the pups, sitting side by side, together. Nile looked over at his sister, Kaiyo, with a smile on his face. She seemed happy, which made him glad. The water splashed onto the sand, hitting Nile's paw slightly.

Water. One thing they both loved passionately. The night sky. Another thing they admired, almost just as much as the ocean itself. Beaches. Oh, beaches. They loved playing in the sand and seeing the crabs pop out. Searching for seashells was pretty neat too, but all of this became a bore to Nile since they continuously did the same thing over and over. Maybe a bit of diversity would be nice for once. Maybe, just maybe.

Suddenly, Nile got an idea. His ideas were always outrageous and crazy, something Kaiyo usually isn't ever prepared for. "Hey, Kaiyo!" He said, a wide smirk on his face. "I dare you to jump into the ocean! Try to catch a wave, maybe?" Obviously it wasn't a smart idea, but it didn't seem to hit him at the time.

The female pup shook her head with a sigh. She wanted to make her older brother happy and looked up at him. "Okay, fine. But you'll owe me something afterwards." Nile nodded, clearly excited about her choice.

Kaiyo took a deep breath and ran jumped straight into the ocean. "Woo!" She screamed as it happened, and started to swim around. "Okay, to be fair, that actually was pretty fun." She exclaimed, glancing over at Nile. There were tiny waves before, becoming bigger as she swam around.

Then it happened.

A huge wave came by Kaiyo. She was trapped and couldn't avoid it hitting her. "Nile!" She yelled as loud as he could, desperately seeking his help. He nodded, jumping up, trying to find something to help him. There was a yellow and orange surfboard nearby so he grabbed it as swiftly as he could. He set it on the water and carefully got on to it, riding his way over to Kaiyo.

It was too late.

The wave already crash-landed on Kaiyo and Nile was shocked, jumping straight off his board into the water, seeking his sister. He found his sister after a minute or so, and dragged her to land.

She was fine and breathing, thankfully. She coughed a bit as he took her there, but she was absolutely okay. Nile was so glad she was and sighed. "I promise..I won't dare you to do something like that again.." He had a sad look on his face, as the other pup sat next to him.

"It's okay." She smiled. "I'm okay."

Main Hobby:
Water painting: In all fairness, it's more like River submerging his paw in watered down paint and then smearing it across a canvas. Surprisingly though, his paintings aren't all that bad, considering he doesn't have opposable thumbs.

Personality (more in depth):
River is a quiet pup. He isn't often seen running up to people to speak; He's actually very introverted, though it wouldn't be right to call him shy. He just prefers silence with the occasional conversation. Preferably though, that silence would be filled with the sound of a babbling brook or rain. The calming sounds have always made him feel perfectly tranquil. River is the type who would lock himself in his room all day to read mystery novels, then afterwards feel suspicious of everyone, thinking about all the secrets they may be hiding.

Though it seems he doesn't recognize this fact, River often comes off as a bit melancholy. His voice is usually kept low, he's rarely very active, and he has a bad habit of making downing comments in the midst of any general conversation. For example, his friend might mention some thrilling activity they want to try, and then River would go ahead and reply by telling them the death rate of that activity (if he so happens to know it, for whatever his odd reasons may be). Despite there being a strangely sad aura to him, it doesn't appear the he is actually all that upset, ever. And fortunately, he's not so much a downer that people really find it so annoying that they won't speak to him... not that River would be too furiously upset if he didn't have to talk to anyone for a while.

This pup may seem like he's in his own little bubble, but at least he's reliable. He may not always be the best of friends, he may not always listen, but he will forever be a shoulder to lean on. When a friend really needs help, he's right there, ready to do whatever he can. When he's told to keep a secret, he'll take it to his grave. When an event is planned, whether it be a simple get together or a funeral, he'll show up even if it inconveniences him. He wants to be there for the people he cares about, for the people who care about him. He simply isn't the type to make plans, then cancel them because he doesn't feel like going. He probably never feels like going, but when he says he'll do something with/for someone, he'll do it, no questions asked.

Just because he's quiet in no way means he's peaceful. He could be an internal wreck, fretting about everything. He could be easily angered or upset. He could be, but he isn't. He is completely at peace with himself and the world. He has a hard time becoming annoyed with things or people, and he rarely ever worries about what might happen in the future. This leaves him to be nothing but tranquil. It's a feature that some of expressed some jealousy of, which he understands. He hates that feeling one gets in their chest when they become distraught, so he does his best to avoid it at all costs. This isn't always a good thing (like, it gives him little sense of urgency), but it certainly helps to let him relax.

River's most dominate trait is probably how absolutely passionate he is about the things he loves. He's already dedicated his life to doing what he likes to do best. River, for example, highly enjoys water painting (he's a creative boy). When he is painting, he puts his heart and soul into it, making sure not to slack off. When he reads one of his mystery novels, he analyzes the story and predicts what will happen next. Much of the time, River will ignore anyone who dare speak to him when he's doing one of the things he likes doing above most other things. There are a few people who have actually expressed their admiration for River's undying devotion to what he enjoys doing.

Some personalities are extremely easy to get a long with. Others, not so much. River is one of those people that sort of just blend in with a crowd, he goes with the flow. In that sense, it's fairly easy to get along with him. However, it might take just a little extra effort to really get to know him, as he tends not be a very social person. There have been a couple people who haven't exactly liked River, but he has yet to make any enemies. He has his good days, and his bad days, but overall... he's a pretty cool pup.
