the sweet scent of july flowers swept into the little clearing with the dancing breeze, and atticus looked up from his work. "I think...," he said hesitantly. the other viscet glanced briefly up at the young apprentice, and answered as she continued sorting the herbs with a gentle paw, "go on." the rustle of drying leaves commenced from where atticus was, and he thought for a few brief moments, head cocked to the right, before remarking, "what do you say has bloomed today?"

the viscet addressed raised her head to glance at atticus once more. "why don't you find out?" she inquired. "or perhaps you already know," she added slyly. the corner of atticus' mouth lifted slightly and he responded proudly without looking up. "larkspur, of course- the first blooms appeared but three days ago."

"yes," the viscet replied. "indeed it is, and it's no surprise that you've discovered that." she smiled at her apprentice. "why don't you go pick some for the clearing? it'll brighten things up especially for those that are still ailing." atticus nodded seriously. "i shall, then."

the meadow was peaceful, and the same sweet breeze tickled his mane as he slowly melted into the tall, waving grass. his tail stuck out of the thin grass as he pushed his way purposefully through the meadow. as he reached the crest of a hill, he veered a little to the right, into the forest and onto a path that led to a neat, yet hidden, garden. of course, there were blooms closer to the healers' clearing, but he preferred to journey to the vibrant garden that once belonged to his mother. the garden was tended carefully by his mother until her death several years ago, at which point it seemed to conceal itself into the forest as vegetation grew.

atticus had discovered it a few months past, and slowly restored it to some of its original tidiness, although it was still hidden from others. he preferred it that way, so he could have a quiet place to himself. now, he paused a moment to admire the various blooms before selecting a few choice specimens to bring back to the clearing. he held the blooms neatly in one front paw, and as he prepared to return home he whispered tenderly, "nice seeing you, mama..."

● ● his job
atticus is the healer of his pack, and a very good one, in fact. he's very dedicated to his job and is a genius with herbs. he has a near-perfect memory and can recite the uses of medicinal plants and processes nearly word-for-word from how his mentor taught him, years ago. in his job, he tries to offer the best care possible, trying everything to help his patients, in the same spirit as his mentor and confidante, the previous healer. he's very happy to please and assist others in any way.
● ● knowledge
atticus is very knowledgeable about his own profession as well as other certain subjects. he's rather interested in the scientific names of organisms and general facts about nature, and has dabbled in archaeology and mineralogy. overall he's always happy to learn new things and have intellectual conversations with others. he loves to ponder things over, especially in a solitary location, and he can get a little philosophical. also, he's a night owl, staying up late to contemplate while gazing at the stars.
● ● conversation
at first glance, atticus seems like a very busy individual. it seems like he's always doing something, and he's perfectly good at multitasking. it's most likely that he's busy working while you're speaking to him, and he may even ask you to help or hold something for him. he likes to keep things fairly concise and gets to the point quickly; he doesn't like to waste words. due to this he may appear blunt, but he'll always consider things seriously and the words he does say are well thought out. each word he says is very meaningful, and what comes out of his mouth is always carefully thought over. he may pause a little during the conversation to think about his next words, or reflect on the points being discussed- he has a very careful way of speaking. his voice is very clear, a little quiet, and with a contemplative manner.
● ● compassion and love
atticus is a great healer, but he's always felt a bit uncertain about emotional situations, or when he has to offer words of compassion. for example, as a healer, he often has to break bad news, and it's always hard for him to find the right words, which as you know, means a lot to him. he'll try his best with this but he always feels like he should've said more or said something a bit more sensitive. atticus is very doting toward his loved ones. friends and family are something he treasures, and because he's very busy he delights in any chance to spend time with them, and he's willing to sacrifice for his loved ones. currently he doesn't have a mate or crush, but he's kind of hoping for one soon, someone intellectual that he could share his opinions with.
● ● reservations
atticus doesn't like to share his emotions- it's always felt unnatural and uncomfortable to him and he usually prefers for his body language to do the talking. it's hard for him to admit anger, sadness, incompetence, or similar emotions, and he's always a little ashamed or uncomfortable doing so, depending on the situation. he does tend to prefer smaller groups as opposed to a large crowd.
● ● his own views
he personally thinks of himself as a studious and diligent viscet. atticus takes pride in his knowledge and is always happy to do his job of a healer. however, it's very difficult for him when he's done his best and the patient passes away anyways, as he feels that it was his fault.

atticus works in a little clearing that branches off the main pack camp. there's a series of small caves surrounding the soft, mossy clearing, containing, in order, his herb supply, a chamber for the sick, a place for him to sleep, and an additional storage niche. there's also a small stream a few paces away. he mostly works with herbs and other materials from the surrounding woods and fields, as the pack does not communicate nor interact with humans.
